Sativex has already been licensed for use in Canada to relieve pain in people with MS.The Home Office has now said the drug can be imported to the UK for individual patient’s use.
MS charities welcomed the development as a step towards the drug being fully licensed for use on the NHS.
Eighty-five thousand people in the UK have MS. It is not yet certain how many of them would benefit from Sativex.
The drug is a mouth spray containing two chemicals found in cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol.

a step in the right direction after all these years
i had two family members with MS, one one whom was euthanaised recently, so i fully realise how important it is for MS sufferers to have marajuana to have any kind of decent quality of life. hopefully it will start to be used more widely, as there are many, many conditions which have their symptoms aleiviated by the herb, notably fibro mialgia syndrome and most conditions affecting the muscles, whiplash, for example.
lets hope that the progress continues.
I never knew that people in your family were MS sufferers…
i wish them and you love and strength
I have two friends with different forms of MS and one friend that died from this disease
seeing people with this level of physical suffering, and then imagining arresting them for smoking some leaves that help them, not just with pain, but with co-ordination and reducing muscle spasms….
the law has been an evil sack of shit for decades
