Ableton was recommended just a few days ago on another forum by a chap who has helped out Partyvibe over the years with the internet radio stuff and I think has some links to Level 1 (underground EDM station from UK). A few of my friends have used it as well and this was around 10 years ago; presumably the tech has improved since then.
unfortunately I’ve not had the time or energy myself to sit down with DAW software recently and users claim (often quite righly) there is a steep learning curve – as someone who grew up in the days when even EDM was still mastered on analogue tape and sequencers were basic I find what did help was to try and visualise the system as a very sophisticated sequencer and a multi track recorder linked up with timecode, which is what the system essentially is. Dual displays are also good for software like this….
