There’s one word you’ll become familiar with if you spend time in Malaysia: makan. For makan is to eat; and eat (and eat) you will, about seven times a day if you follow local customs.
In 2006 I went with my family to one of those “all you can eat” Chinese restaurants. The managers saw us, noticed we were Asian and then asked “are you from Malaysia?” when we answered “yes” some others in the background they quickly started topping up the serving trays :laugh_at:
(and to be fair the native folk of East Anglia do like food as well, Defra did some surveys a while back about how much people ate around the UK and people in the East do eat much more than Londoners 😉 )
