50% of my raving m8s have had a K problem of some sort @ some point.fangs.gif
It has fuked up many of the rigs i kno & many close friends have lost much of their young lives to being on it & never getting on with it……

nasty stuff, no doubt the NHS will have plenty to sort out there

what is more shocking IMO is how random_raver’s friend didn’t notice his own body was fucking up and even think to calm down and seek appropriate treatment b4 he got into that state 🙁

makes you think though. The danger with K is that as there is no real comedown [bar the body’s reaction to nasty particulates being hoofed through the upper respiratory system] and you are not kept awake for days afterwards, its easy for K to become a constant “escape” drug, and there is a danger of psychological addiction.

I also saw a lot of my friends go bad on it in the mid-late 1990s, not just being zombies but making questionable lifestyle choices and ripping off each other to get it – for that reason and would not touch it until fairly recently and even then only in tiny amounts as an adjunct to other stuff…

and why do ppl do it 2 become zombies?

its worth looking at its medical indications (what it is prescribed for) – apart from anaesthesia another indication is “palliative care in terminal illness”.

This is med-speak for a drug which makes someone forget or come to terms with the fact they are dying..

I can understand the reason this stuff is popular – from a dealers POV the risk/reward ratio is excellent, users initially experience less health-problems than other street drugs and small doses can be amusing…

but it reduces motivation and social interaction; the very things that keep parties going.

Overused, there is a danger that Ket could become a palliative for a dying scene..

im personally swaying to believe ketamine is acceptable in the right situation again…i used to like it a few years back then it spoiled my fun and now I think its only worth taking in the dying throws of a house party or in small hroups of trusted friends with mario kart. Though recently i have heard a lot of rumours linking excessive use to cerebral palsy, as far as i can tell this is due to problems with the anaesthetic’s dosage in small children….anyone know anymore, such as if it happens to older people and if so how best to avoid it (if one chose to take ketamine)?

I’ve been reading all sorts of medical reports on the stuff and not seen any mention of this.

If the cerebal palsy scare is in small children; its worth considering that the NHS are well aware that anaesthesia is always a risky process.

Medical professionals would not normally keep carting a small child into hospital and jacking them up with ketamine unless there was something seriously wrong with them in the first place which required multiple treatement under anaesthesia.

cheers GL….i just wanted to makes sure,m bit like E, i’d rather know what to do minimize risks.

I’ve had a further search – found various medical papers warning about using Ketamine (and other anaesthetics) on children with cerebral palsy – and also an article mentioning symptoms of ketamine use at higher sub-anaesthetic (k-hole) doses which would mimic the involuntary limb movements of someone with cerebral palsy.

It appears all of these reports have been jumbled together somewhere to create this scare.

There is more danger from nasal damage from snorting large amounts, or other injuries sustained when your co-ordination is altered.

The long-term effects of ketamine use (or any modern street drug) are not that well known but there are ppl who have been doing multiple drugs for 10-15 years in moderation who are OK..

IMO its a matter of educating yourself and knowing when to calm down. Trust me it was a lot harder in the old days when it was all new and people thought they were indestructible…

Its easier these days with the net and there are also people who have been through the old-skool days and who have survived who can advise (they are pretty much living lab rats 😉 )

I often wonder the same thing, and part of it i think, is that some people are just pre-disposed to stuff like K.Others undoubtedly start on K cos its something everyone else seems to be doing…the herd mentality thing.

Personally, its not for me,like you say GL,its something that reduces social interaction, and that can only be bad for parties

Maybe its just me, but from my experience on K I actually tend to become more social. I dont really go for huge lines that will put me in a zombified state, and if I do I save them for the comfort of my own home.

Ive made quite a few new friends on K, and I still love to dance, often coming out with strange movements in the process. :bounce_fl

Not all people who use K are the same obviously. At past raves ive had to hold people upright so they didnt fall into a heap on the floor. I had a quite a strange experience when a close friend of mine became scared of me after some huge line, which put myself in a strange mindset.

Although I do love pills, the comedown really gets to me, and puts me off having them as regularly, so I tend to stick to K at parties.

Plus I do love the psychedelic feelings, and have had some very nice closed eye visuals in the past.

Thats my view on it though.

i had a bit of a K binge recently, and one of the most worrying things about it was that because its a dissasociative, i felt that if i was bleeding internally, or if id shat myself, or anything, i wouldn’t have noticed. if someone chopped my leg off at the knee, prolly would have been like “wow! look at the way that red stuff is coming out of that fleshy stick that in front of me! wicked!”.

at least with shrooms and pills, you are nearly over-aware of how your feeling and whats going on, and would be able to sort it. i recon i could easily go on a k-binge to death and not notice. as i said when i was totalyyk-ed up, repeatedly:”danger, danger”

The last party I was at, I had injured my foot earlier in the week, so was limping around pretty slowly. But I was still determined to go for a rave.

After Id had some K I completely forgot my foot, didnt really feel a thing for good while. It was still in the back of my mind that I was meant to be taking it easy, but it didnt seem too important.

Then you guessed it, the next day was incredibly hard to walk from the pain, and I ended up just sitting home struggling to move about the place.

In some ways it was good that K let me have a good time at the rave, but It didnt do good for the next few days of longer recovery.

and you’re lucky it was minor.

my most comedy k-numbness story is the first time i did k, coz i felt so secure an in tune, i went skating and tore my self to bits….seemed great at the time, but i have never had such a complete set of grazes and bruises..

your story reminds me of going clubbing with a cold…e seems to get rid of the symptoms, and the choice was wether to stay and get better, or fuck it and deal with it later much worse..guess what i chose… :weee:
