there’s some stuff in here which seems fair enough, although my main criticism would be that the only solutions put forward by Bliar’s ‘respect’ taskforce seems to be locking more people up, for longer; a strategy that has spectacularly failed throughout civilisations accross the world

    there’s also some more stuff:

The bill is expected to boost police powers to close anti-social premises, such as noisy pubs and clubs, within 48 hours and force youths to move away from public spaces.

anyone else read that as anti-rave?

Expanding the use of conditional cautions, which punish offenders on the spot for trivial behaviour without the need for expensive, wasteful court cases.

esentially giving you a criminal record of sorts without legal recourse

Procedures toughened for defendants failing to turn up at court without good reason. In some cases they could be tried in absentia.

I can see situations were this would be used against the traveller community (ie. failing to deliver court dates to defendants)

    fucking fascist fuckers

we’re all on fuckin lockdown, it makes me sick. the only solution seems to be harsher punishments for non-harmful crimes, more and more laws being implemented but none being dropped, police fuckin state its headin towards, the uk aint been a free country for ages. what we need is a much much more liberal approach to certain things ie harsh punishments for violent crimes but why is possesion of drugs punished at all, it is effecting noone else but the person in posession and that is freedom as far as i’m concerned. i strongly believe in legalisin drugs for so many reasons (gang crime and purity being the dominant) but realisticly its not going to happen.

the political debate in this country is fuckin apallin, noone is happy with the situation but there is little we can do anymore. protests dont work, we have no backbone to riot and effectively we have a 2-party system with both of them being absoblute shite.

sorry bout the massive rant, it just scares me. i have hope but also am dreadin the day when i have to put up my hands and conform or be persecuted. well, to more of an extent than i and others already are…

I wouldn’t say drugs only effect the people carrying the drugs at the time, drugs we take at raves dont just magically appear (well i suppose they can if youve already taken to much!). A pill you eat at a rave or that line of coke you have when you get back have probally been on a big journey before reaching you. and it is true that drugs CAN (not always!) fun terrorism ect.
I dont think drugs are going to be stamped out by the government which is why mabye they should start thinking of ways users may be safer (allthough they probally dont give a shit!). Mabye think of legalising certain drugs so they could be easier contolled and safer. I mean come on HOW THE FUCK is alcohol legal i think alcohol is much much more damaging than lot of the recreational drugs around OTH i do like the ocassional night of drinking:groucho: :groucho: :groucho:

Oh yeah just relised what the post was orinally about!
Well the criminal jutice bill……..:groucho: :groucho:
it “could” be worse i supppose.

” esentially giving you a criminal record of sorts without legal recourse”

this isnt what i like to see! i can see alot of officers using this power frequently will have to start keeping an eye on what i say to them even more now i suppose:groucho: :groucho: altough saying that its normally better to just keep out of their way unless you can help the party in some way. OTOH if they come looking for trouble i always enjoy being a “little” bit cheeky:groucho: :groucho:

i wrote a massive essay on why we should legalize all drugs, i might post it sometime it was actually a letter to blair. drugs would be regulated by the government and therefore would literally only effect those who use them, its true soapbar hash funds terrorism and coke funds gangs in south america, dont know why anyone would buy soapshite res anyway its horrible.

i dont think pills fund any organised gangs or terrorism, thank god cos it means my conscience is clear! of corse it mite be better to wait for social change before we legalise cos we gotta loada pillocks who wil abuse everythin at the moment, we seem to be in another depression-era. in fact i might start a thread about that…
