I would recommend people going to either Shindig or the Boogie Woogie. Both look like they’re going to be banging!
if even one of these promoters realised that there are venues outside London then they wouldn’t all need to be competing for the same lot of punters anyway, especially as many are from outside the capital.
I agree that legal mainstream club venues aren’t the best environment for these events but find it hard to believe that Shindig or Boogie Woogie are not also licensed events held using the TENS system with full knowledge of the authorities. There are a lot of good reasons for doing this but keeping the “underground” feel and changing the venue/reducing the amount of folk who know its location until the last minute – not just to look cool but to protect everyone involved as there are lots of far less pleasant people who try and muscle in on nightlife (hence why the townie clubs need to employ door apes in the first place). These events are well run enough not to pose metpol and London Ambulance excessive problems and at the very least slightly less than mainstream events in the capital on NYE.
I don’t use FB but have seen some comments/complaints about the first event pages being deleted, sounds far more like FB did that because they were in the wrong place or against some stupid rule or FB is trying to nudge them towards paying for the advert.
