what area are you going to be in, and are you planning on doing licensed events?

some areas you might as well not bother doing illegals unless you want the stuff to get confiscated very quickly, and if you are doing legals you are limited by the available venues and size… pointless spending fuckloads of cash on a stack you can never take out…

edit : saw “near cambridge” elsewhere so you’re local

I’d read up about the law and the harsh realities of doing parties in this region before you spend your cash…. BTW all the anti-rave cops are on facebook and they can get any private messages of yours without FB telling you if they even think you are going to be doing illegal raves…

prob about 1000 to begin with including the amp so bout 600 pretty confident at building stuff and have mate of mate that could help me out. but my buget could be infinate

My advice is to take the blue pill. see what happens eh?

    good luck

for a grand u gotta think small .. would probably buy you one decent new cab + cones and amp .. mby 2 cabs + cones and amp … .. unless ur looknig at second hand gear .. probably get alot more for your doller going second hand at that price range

sry just noticed u are planing on building them ur self … probably 100ish pound a cab if u use decent wood … mby 200 … choose mahogany … alltho very expensive .. fucking resonates the best .. espesh with deep bass lines like d+b (proper d+b not this kiddy pish u get now) and anything vocal it also really does justice to!

a grand isnt going to take you far for a full system if you are going to build it, second hand is a good idea…
Also, it is hard to build a system that specifically caters for both drum n bass AND hard trance, since these two require different systems… hard trance is gonna need a lot of punchy bass, where as dnb / jungle needs a nice lot of resonating bass.

ive got some guides for dnb / jungle here – as thats what im into and this is what i would do with my money:

but if your set on building it,

    FOR YOUR TOP BOXES:
Well this is easy, you dont need good wood for this since it doesnt affect the sound, you will be using compression drivers & flare horns. There is no set design for top boxes, its based around the horn… you buy the horn, make sure it fits the driver, and build a box round it, hence you can use cheap wood.

    MIDS:
for a first build, may i recommend these mids… cheap & easy to build
PA Systems, sound systems, speaker boxes, live Sound – Dancetech

    BASS:
GSubs: Cheap & not too difficult to build either, and loud! not too heavy either.

    __________
All these speakers are affordable within your budget i think, and the drivers also (you need to have drivers that match the cab design or its not gunna sound how its meant to)

Im not an expert on this though, and if you are looking to build your system,
Speakerplans.com Forums – Powered by Web Wiz Forums
Thats a great forum for building it

And http://www.purple.com has a lively For Sale area where you can pick up speakers etc.

i dont expect to have an up and running rig straight away for the money im spending start with about a grand cause thats wat i got saved plus i got another 500 spare from my wages and ill have another 700 ish the month after really im not looking for something massive but can pack a real punch

what sort of transport will you have available? do you plan to use it outdoors?

do you have any knowledge of setting it all up etc?

if i know this i can maybe help you find something suitable

oh PS – beware owning a rig will eat money till the end of your raving days

my mates got a couple of transit vans. i would like to do some outdoor parties. i have basic knowledge of setting up used to help a mate throu parties. but i also got a mate that did a degree in sound engineering was sort of relying on him to fill in the blanks.
ye i bet it will but i been pissing my money away on fuk all for ages be nice to have things to show for it for a change plus hopefully itll make me a few quid here and there.

🙂 ok then , if doing outdoor parties your also gunna need to look at a generator.. but thats not that important yet.

are you set on building a rig? do you have all tools etc?
