They tried the same thing in Ipswich but only 30 or so people turned up (as it wasn’t as well publicised compared to the Dutch event – for some reason left-leaning social activist folk in Ipswich don’t seem to be online at weekends (or very much at all)) and others still whinged about it in the comments section of the newspaper.
In NL the pirate party (and I expect some other political organisations) had been publicising the event for 2 weeks or more to the point I could easily work out the route (in spite of being 500km away). Best of all there was literally zero police incidents – in comparison the Oktoberfest in Germany kept the Polizei very busy indeed with all sorts of unpleasantness.
