It is unfortunate. Unless you go to a private school, it’s likely you will have a class on it, it is part of many of our states’ mandated curriculum. But with all the “politically correct” shit going on, though it is required to be taught to every student, (to what extent is up to the school, at mine we learned about it for a week) if it conflicts with ones religious beliefs, you can not be forced to take the class.

no cuz most of our christians don’t know that catholicism is actually another branch of christanity and even if they did they’d never take the pope’s authority.

a girl takes a free will baptist to an hour long mass and afterwards he’s likely to ask you “why can’t you be a christian”… or a couple is getting married and the friends are talking about it “she was raised christian but she’s gonna convert to catholism for him.” or something like that…

Wow, if a school here wanted to teach a class with it’s curriculum based solely on religion I don’t think you can even do that on public school grounds. And they don’t read a single passage from the bible either. The only times you learn about religion in public school is when you are taught about early Mormonism in “US History and western expansion”, and the basic beliefs and history of the Christian and Islamic religions (taught together as one unit) in “Western Civilizations” (Greece, Rome, The Byzantine empire etc.). It’s all this hype about political correctness. I don’t know if this is just in America, but you can’t call an Easter egg hunt an Easter egg hunt, you have to call it a ‘Spring sphere hunt’. And no Christmas music allowed in public schools. And ABSOLUTELY NO SANTA. Town parks that put up those little nativity scenes have to take them down if anyone complains.

I’m not a Christian nor do I celebrate Christmas, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to prevent others from celebrating what they believe in, that’s just wrong. The one thing that bugs me about Christmas is that it is celebrated for all the wrong reasons. It’s just another way for the capitalist scumbags to rob you. And also, it may sound a bit corny, but no one knows the meaning of Christmas. Kids don’t know that they are celebrating the birth of their lord and savior Jesus Christ, they just know Santa.

Drive-through banks, pharmacies, and liquor stores……In Texas they have drive-thru margarita places. It is legal because the straw is taped down!

Everything works better in the South if you’re white. And male. And I was one of that generation raised to believe that the Earth was created only 6,000 years ago by a self-serving god who ruled from above and bless your heart, would you like some iced tea? (Served sickly sweet.) It was only about 3 years ago that I revisited many of my childhood ideas and lost my idealism about pretty much everything.

But I was lucky. I was raised by missionaries; went to 17 schools in 11 years, private, public, boarding, and home schools; I was raised to think a little bit, to inhabit my own space. Took me a long time, but I got out. I think my parents were beginning to hope that maybe I wasn’t ever going to. But it happened. Just call me Leo the Late Bloomer.

And you’re right, those are some weird American-ISMS you listed, most of which just seem normal to me.
