Need something, prescription meds are useless, been on them for many years. Alcohol and weed no longer help me. Coke, speed, E, anything buzzy just makes me highly anxious.
But I desperately need something to relieve the depression…something I can depend on to lift me, I don’t care about the repercussions right now, the depression itself is damaging me severely.
Recommendations? Whether it’s legal, prescription or illegal…from using codeine before I know opiates help…I just need that feeling of euphoria to counterbalance the despair.
Opiate addiction is an ugly downhill spiral. I would not recommend. Speak with your doctor or a councillor and get to the root of your deppression.
You could try 5-HTP, it’s legal and helps boost serotonin levels afaik it’s not addictive.
Doctors and therapists have taught me nothing more than this is the way I am. And after all this time, I just wanna be sedated, like the Ramones… But seriously I do, or I won’t last. I will look into 5-HTP. Are there any drugs you can compare it to?
Opiate addiction is serious, much like what you may experience now but far, far worse. If that is a road you want to go down, and you don’t, CWE.
If not opiates then what? I will try this herbal recommendation, but is there anything else recreational I might use? Or even prescribed. I’m out of patience, I want only a happy pill. Then I can look forward to being depression free for short intervals.

Are you seriously expecting someone to recommend a smack habit over something else?
As no doubt others have said not recommended and will probably lead to more problems in the future.
You can do whatever you want mate and are free to ignore my, and others, advice, but you WILL end up with an opiate/opiod addiction, I was on methadone due to painkiller use, and probably a higher dose of methadone than some heroin addicts.
I think I’ve always been lucky with physical symptoms of addiction but I’ve seen some people in some serious states that they didn’t expect to be in at low doses of even codeine.

Practice mindfulness everyday for a year if you are serious about a solution. Especially if you have tried SSRIs etc. Also no recreational drugs. Maybe some CBT. If things go really that bad ECT has made a bit of a comeback.

ECT never went away, jk, ECT does work if you’re chronically depressed. i second mindfulness, would advocate any form of physical activity, tai chi, yoga ect.
endorphins are what you’re looking for, go running for a hour instead of getting on the gear.
NO NO NO! My darling please don’t!
I suffer with depression and I’m an heroin addict so I have a lot of experience here. Heroin will leave you feeling more depressed in the long run. The reason that withdrawal creates such awful pain – physical and emotional is that prolonged use of heroin leaves your body unable to manufacture it’s own feel good chemicals. Whilst your brain is sorting itself out, you the user are going through hell.
Personally I use 5htp and I find it a wonder drug! It’s legal, natural and has very little side effects. Would you please consider using this and just forget the opiates? I have LOADS more advice and ways to beat the depression but I am out of time. Please PM me if you would like more information. Seriously you have so many more options than you think you have. I am sure that I can introduce you to many more constructive ways of dealing with this depression that an opiate addiction.
I understand that feeling depressed can make you desperate but don’t jump from the frying pan into the fire! Please?
Grey I am coming back to check on you within a couple of days. You will be hearing from me again but if I don’t reply immediately then don’t feel rejected. i am having all sorts of personal issues at the minute.
How old are you? Do you mind me asking?
Did you know that a therapist isn’t there to teach you? They are there to facilitate a more in depth understanding of yourself and your situation. Do you think that you have gone into therapy with the expectation of the therapist solving your problems or telling you how to? Attitude is everything when it comes to depression. Attitude and perspective.
If you want to, Pm me with more information and a back story. Tell me anything you like. I don’t know you and I won’t be judging you. hang on in there, there is no reason that you can’t improve this depression with a few steps in the right direction

FUN FACT: In the US, the purchase of tramadol (Ultram) without a prescription is legal ONLY if it is purchased for veterinary use, and fed to an animal, NOT a human.
