Yes. Things like thalidamide. Great for pharma profits, a fucking nightmare for the patient.
As far as I am concerned, every “medical professional” – especially the psych people – ARE just fucking witch doctors with a haircut and bath. Their job isn’t to keep you happy, their job is to keep you controlled and make sure you die in a timely and quiet fashion.
You trust ’em if you want. I trust me.

And you think Big Placebo isn’t a business either? Big Placebo – RationalWiki
They are just as much in it for the monies as Big Pharma are. Sure, Big Pharma may suck, but there are serious consequences if their medicine fucks you up, which is why there are pretty strict regulations on what they can put on the market (also this little thing called liability claims, which companies aren’t very fond of.) Big Placebo isn’t regulated at all.
As for doctors, if they’re with the NHS they get paid regardless of whether or not they see you. With a private one, they’re being paid per consultation but it’s against their best interests to keep you sick (you can just go to another, better doctor who isn’t a shithead.) More happy patients means more referrals, more referrals means more money. The alternative medicine folk are often even worse, because it’s always “we’ll talk about that problem in the next session!”
Some aren’t in it for the money and do not charge. How does that tie in with your completely “everybody is just as selfish a bastard as I am” mentality?
It does not. Oh, of course, NOBODY who is selfless could exist. EVERY idea like that is a lie. You know EVERY SITUATION AND EVERY IDEA…
… take your selfish attitude and shove it up your arse. I’m sure poly will help you with that.

Not only was your whole post unnecessarily rude, but it was a complete strawman argument (with a nice side dish of ad hominem). Nowhere did I say people are incapable of being selfless because that contradicts all the evidence at my disposal.
There are plenty of lawyers who will do lots of pro bono work (in fact it is encouraged in the profession) but that doesn’t mean I think the legal profession is a shining beacon of nobility.
Likewise would you say the what you so-call “medical professionals” who work for Doctors without Borders are witch doctors with haircuts?
All I said in my previous post is that a large amount of the alternative medicine folk are just as in it for the profit as Big Pharma are. It’s a billion dollar industry. Of course there will always be examples of people who do it selflessly but just as Doctors Without Borders doesn’t prove that Big Pharma doesn’t suck, neither does the fact that some people offer alt medicine for free mean Big Placebo doesn’t suck.
You seem to have mistaken me for somebody that actually gives a fuck?
What’s ‘alternative’ medicine? sounds like when one medication isn’t working for you so you have to be put on something else, but i’m assuming it means something else because it has ‘apostrophe things’

I thought it was hilarious. Especially the personal attack on me 😀

That is idiotic. The capitalist nature of pharmaceutical companies leads to problems and issues I grant you. But to suggest what you are suggesting is over simplified ignorant left wing bollocks. Modern advances in medicine have roughly doubled the average life span in western countries. Pharmaceutical companies drugs have so far extended my terminally ill fathers life by around 20 years. When I get a headake pharmaceutical companies drugs relieve that pain. When my kidneys packed up I was on roughly 15 intravenous drugs that saved my life. The high blood pressure I am left with can only be controlled with modern drugs, without them I would die before I hit 40. I could go on for ages pointing out your flawed logic but what’s the point; your viewpoint is akin to religious faith.
Cant see you turning down these evil drugs made by evil company’s when something goes wrong with your health though somehow.

It refers to stuff like homeopathy, dietary supplements, magnetic healing and other such practices which are claimed to improve your health but have not been verified using controlled studies.

And a lot of them have been proven not to work using controlled studies.

Wrong! Try again with the crystal ball.

And a lot of the controlled studies turned out to be scientifically flawed in favour of big profits.
Big pharma does not seek cures. Big phama seeks treatments that it can endlessly sell to keep people sick.

Oh i see like reiki yeah…

Controlled study? Not actually possible to do double blind with reiki.
Hence the scoffer’s delight in taking more pills that “make them feel good”.
No idea what you are on about there, but i think big pharma are using illegal ingrediants to make their drugs and it might be why weed is illegal for the rest of us. And although i don’t have all of my facts, i also think there might be something in it with cannibis helping cancer but instead you get chemo wwhich makes you sick for the rest of your life?
A lot of things just don’t make sense to me when it comes to big pharma.
