  • at least they are challenging about the cost

imagine if the same amount of cash was put into ‘organised’ events. there would be a huge party on every corner every day of the week

Blimey. If there was any proof needed we are being watched!

#Binge waves at the copper monitoring this post:horay:#

Its not like we advertise Raves on here – the only adverts we do have are legal ones with licences. And then we talk about the party we went too the weekend just gone raaa

The rest we talk about it banter and make friends on-line with like minded people.

I’ve yet to find a post on here advertising the next party for this weekend or something silly since we are heavily moderated here.

But Norfolk does need a rest from the parties.

Where are we going to go in the Summer when its nicer?

:cry: I want to go out partying this summer :cry:

Time to move away! Although there are a few legal things being sorted……..

I don’t believe in running away from problems or creating the same problems in other areas.

This clampdown happened for a reason and it wasn’t just blind prejudice.

People were given lots of chances and pissed them up the wall.

In 2003 I was saying both on here and even SJ that ravers shouldnt get complacent during the “good times” as the scene wasn’t being accepted by normal people, it was merely being grudgingly endured, and that if people didn’t take note of the bigger picture eventually the rest of society would fight back. This happened in 2004/5 in SE England and more recently in East Anglia.

Not everyone can afford to travel to the other side of the country or even foreign lands just for a party – and it may be the case you are deep down no more welcome in those areas than in your original ends.

Incidentally those of you who live in the Thames Valley shouldn’t get complacent. That BBC reporter also hinted that they thought ravers would move more towards the Thames Valley – many people are prepared to travel a few hundred miles despite high fuel costs (which again makes cops wonder “where is the money coming from?”). There has always been a crossover between the SE and Eastern England scenes even in the 90s, Brains Kan/Chronic Redeye had links with Oxford as well as Norwich.

Anyway, I’m definitely staying put in East Anglia anyway as other than raves my life has been the best it has ever been, I’ve got a good career, my own house, am earning a reasonable amount and I don’t want to risk any of it just for a weekend of fun.

Nor indeed do I want to contribute to any social problems by my actions – I’ve calmed down my lifestyle and don’t encourage younger people to overuse drugs either on this forum or in real life.

I’m perfectly prepared to accept a compromise of well-run legal events even if it means paying a fiver or accepting a defined finish time…

Yup roll on the totalitarian dystopia, we all live ordered little consumer driven lives take shit loads of prozac and supermarket booze to cope, and then pay our money to private companies and security firms who organise our entertainment for us, soulless. I am so fucking sick of sterile over stewarded clubs charging me 12 quid a throw then over charging me for drinks and a crap experience.

Then to add insult to injury because of the over policing all the drugs are shit, up here in Scotland the only parties worth going to are the DIY ones…

I see people making lots of money here but its the corporate whores… this is a uk issue about who owns us…

the UK is an artificial union state similar in many respects to the Soviet Union with a market economy. you are actually in a different country with different cultures – and in some cases more of a genuine ethos of community.

Many of Scotlands undeground events are still OK for this very reason. Also the remoteness of terrain and the fact much of your land is less pricey than in East Anglia count in your favour

the only times things have fucked up in Scotland appears to be because crews from England have come up to take advantage (and make money).

In England most youths who were born or grew in in thatcho/major era already have the “selfish gene” mentality bred into them.

cops may exaggerate but they aren’t completely inaccurate. Youths aren’t getting rich from free parties, but there are some kids for whom dealing is a large supplement to or even the main part of their income. This “easy come, easy go” money is what the cops believe to be funding England’s rave scene and some youths here are playing up to that image due to careless use of the online social networks.

Anyway even in a market economy you still have some power – if you don’t want to pay the 12 quid entry price or overpriced drinks prices then don’t pay it!

stay in or visit friends at the weekend rather than going to townie places. At least that way the more decent people who do that, the cattle market clubs will be left with neds etc and the resulting violence will mean they get closed down and the idiots what run them are chucked out to the dole queue.

Yeah some good points and I guess this is pretty much what’s happening, I just so avoid commercial clubs and “events” now, the sad thing is a lot of peeps never get to go to a real party they think the nerds, crap drugs and aggressive stewarding is the norm. We still have some great stuff here though and it has a bit of an ethos to it, but for how long…

you’ll get away with it for as long as people can be reasonable about stuff like clear up, finish times not causing disturbance etc.

Scotland even has more tolerance than England to licensed events, some of the English promoters moved to Scotland (such as Fantazia (or Bamtazia as some call it :laugh_at:))

that said the same is true for many low income areas of England. Even licensed clubs are only tolerated in areas where they can’t make more money from other less risky nightlife venues.

For all its faults Norfolks party scene was once one of England’s best. It got fucked up through the ravers own greed and selfishness as much as any cop/government action.

PS: Did you mean neds, rather than nerds? Nerds don’t normally get aggressive, although I expect if they had a big LAN/gaming party and someone turned off all their electric and broadband, they would get a bit cross :laugh_at:

Both would be equally applicable, the nerds hang in the council offices creating overtime for themselves and hassle for everyone else…

    ^..^
