because its up to the rigs themselves to choose where and when they want promo to be done, so before you start posting ask the involved parts directly so they and you know its ok. Some parties get stopped just for the reason they have been posted on here….

National SOCA cops are all over the legal bristol scene trying to work out where the money comes from. Its not even a “secret undercover op”, its all over their website.

Bristol is one of the few areas where any legal dance music events are still tolerated without massive controls on them…

Bedminster? Don’t know what party you’re on about mate but this one was somewhere else.

I wasn’t suggesting that posting a rig name caused it to be shut down, I was talking more about the fool who posted a phone number. But either way, it’s stupid to give out any info on a forum like this, especially when it’s someone else’s rig (the Void and F1 rigs at the weekend must have cost someone many thousands – hope they’ve not been put through the crusher).

that can only happen after a court case and deprivation order. even then its rare unless the courts can prove the rigs were obtained as proceeds of crime especially drug dealing. round here they tend to crush sound equipment but keep gensets etc for the use of the Police to back up the power to the airwave radios!

however when SOCA are sniffing round the music scene that really is getting heavy – I reckon though them rnb lot whinging about their tunes being pirated and asking SOCA to lock off the sites responsible didn’t help matters.

actually they were being 100% open and honest on what they were doing on their website, a lot more than you would expect for a supposedly shadowy undercover service (although I suspect the fact its going to be replaced by the National Crime Agency soon and everyone would have to apply for their jobs again might be a factor).

They were simply looking for known serious criminals being involved in the security operations or event management and door staff not having correct SIA paperwork etc. TBH the only particularly unusual thing was SOCA being involved rather than the local coppers who would normally do this, and it seems like more than a coincidence they do so weeks after some dance music promoters go running and crying to them that their digital media is being copied and ask for Mr Policeman to catch all the nasty bad people.

However this is England, not Syria or some other such tinpot dictatorship. Drugs are illegal but having sound equipment isn’t and if you can prove you got it or the money to get it by legal means you are in the clear. What the cops are wise to especiallly as they can work with revenue and customs etc is 18 year old kids who have never had a full time job in their lives owning £50 000 of pro audio equipment.
