sorry to not be as positive as all the others but if people really want to go down this road I’d really just suggest some discreet talks with a few crews and perhaps collecting some cash at parties that were gonna happen anyway; – and to say no more about who did what and how much on the board!
OTOH if everyone is insistent on a big branded “benefit” type event to link up with a licensed underground event (something like the ambient picnic)
at the moment PV discusses both licensed and unlicensed events; it cannot be proven beyond a reasonable level of doubt that this board is mainly used to organise illegal parties (and the same goes for SJ, Kacchina etc) – people talk about them at their own risk – same as talking about drugs …
but I am concerned that if any message board were seen to be openly collecting money from unlicensed events action could be taken against them ; authorities could claim “this organisation is actively being used to organise an illegal activity for financial gain” (it need not be cops in our country either, given the Indymedia case!)- although it may not be a solid legal case its still enough for cops to start snouting round users home addresses, removing personal IT kit etc….
there is also the chance if something went wrong (like a landowner being caused a financial loss) they could even attempt to identify and launch civil action against those who “run” PV. In my city cops have already assisted with a civil recovery attempt of costs against a party organiser. It failed, but perhaps only due to a minor clerical error in the evidence documents.
however, if someone were to discreetly give PV some money after a party, it would look no more dodgy than paying for mobile phone credit or fuel for a generator…
