I’ve actually got one on my desk, its so people can contact me urgently if I’m working from home by dialling 222… and its a 1972 model I rescued from a squat and restored (adding the metal dial which isn’t usually found on this model)

    Hi General Lighting ,
How mad is that , the red phone looks like our old crash alarm and emergency phone ( like 999 ) but our number is 222 …how weird is that :-O . This might explain some calls we have been getting lol !!!! , ill tell them to speak to you next time lol .

    regards

Its fairly standard to use 222 as the emergency number on a local exchange (I build telephone systems for my work).

its set up to ring twice, also the number of whoever is calling comes up on my computer screen and then the call diverts to my blackberry (in case I am not in the office). My colleague in the IT department keeps calling it though when he should be calling my normal extension though or using the speed dial for my mobile..

    Hi General Lighting ,
If you dial 222 at my place you get a load of firefighters run around like headless chickens lol ….also ours rings three times then diverts to our station mobile phone …just in case we are out . You didnt have anything to do with our phone system did you lol 🙂

yeah that heat paste stuff is the only thing I can think of I havnt tried but dont have any knocking around.

You can get the best stuff in a little tube off any decent computor part website for like £6 and it’ll last you f’in ages unless you build PC’s all the time. 😉

    Read the notations …

Dot method is best IMO – you just have to use more if you’re using artic silver (or the line/cross method depending on what you think’s best).

nah, but I was chatting with some engineers from a very large telecoms company whose research labs are based not too far from here (and who might have had some dealings with control rooms in the past) and they said I was using better software and hardware 😉
