Gonna have to disagree with you there General Sir.
School is important, but I will agree that it has issues!
The main problem with doing drugs when you are young is that the brain is not yet fully developed and it grows in spurts (just like the rest of the body), but it also prunes back un-needed connections in order to work more efficiently as part of the development process. Doing drugs when you are young (or even worse, in the middle of a brain-growth-spurt) is that your brain will grow and develop from a disadvantaged point (drugs have a downside too – its not all just lasers, throwing shapes and empathy) and when all the pruning is done, you could have pruned out some very important connections in order to make the finding-and-taking-drugs connections work a bit better (I know the letters E and K have more significance to me than to most of my colleagues for example).
The biggest buzz you will get at a rave is when the music drops and everybody shouts and throws their hands up, you feel the bassline rip through your torso and you just can’t help but throw shapes and bounce to the beat – it’s fuckin’ awesome and kicks any drug buzz out of the window without a look in :bounce_fl (if you happen to rushing at the time it can be taken to new levels, but I still say the music is the most powerful buzz available at a rave).
(I have now quit my job as a teacher and am doing a masters in psychology by the way )
PS you seem like a sensible and positive yout’ so keep the vibe alive in your own creative and upbeat way and you won’t go too far wrong at a rave anywhere on the planet (not just suffolk/norfolk)!
i like k … but it’s not a party drug … the thing is most raves love trippy shit … ket is an anasthetic … so you trip out .. but can easyly make you “fall asleep” leave the k at home i say … it’s good .. just not in a rave situation or in big regular doses … people get really fucking dilosional if they do it regularly … quite scary to see:you_crazy
cool, what were you teaching??
good luck with the degree!
and awesome stuff, i intend to :bounce_flraaa

it’s worce than that …. the shit they teach you in school is all inacurate .. with scince mainly .. but other things too … for example they tell you that electrisity comes out of one point of the battery .. the + and goes into the – … it’s actualy the other way round … :you_crazy .. to explain alot of the stuff they simplafy it and that doesn’t make sence … not only what your getting taught is a summery of what it’s actualy suposed to be about … these are place of learning … they should teach you exactly what happens .. to actualy learn it .. not make up some easyly understandable vertions of facts … because then there not actual facts .. so all your learning is a load of bollox basicaly .. don’t get me wrong … without schools people would be a hell of a lot worce off in general … but they need to stop trating the kids like they are fucking dumb because they will only react to that by becoming what is expected of them . i fell into that trap for a while … schools are designed to get you used to wearing a suit and working in an office! we need schools … but proper learning facilitys .. not a meat factory for grades
tek .. the damage can be reversed .. the connections are allways being made and disconected in our brains … just at a much slower rate from when you are 2 and 15 ish so it can be soughted out eventualy .. but it will take long (probably not 100% fixed tho .. just better)
Hi Fader,
I take your point about teaching kids to wear suits and not telling trhem all the facts, but that is only a fairly small part of education. A good teacher (like what I was… honest!) will make sure the kids in a school learn how to learn, how think critically and how to formulate a good argument. Unfortunately the government force teachers into a position where they are forced to get the kids pass grades (because that is what a school is judged on, not its ability to educate the locals). However, school is NOT just about getting pass grades and preparing an effective workforce (as can be seen by some young people’s ability to spell or use punctuation correctly ).
As for neural plasticity… I always used to say exactly the same as you “just because they have been killed off, doesn’t mean that the connections won’t be re-made and the new connections might be even better than the original connections”. I have recently had my eyes opened up a bit – By re-wiring the brain, you end up using the same neurons to perform several tasks which means that EVERYTHING starts to slow down. Although I agree that there is some potential for “fixing” broken connections, it is not a guarantee and when you start making too many quick-fixes, the whole system slows down, is not as efficient and has trouble to keep up with today’s demands… so no better, just slower 😉
big up to you if your one of the few!
that rhymes.
big up to you if your one of the few teachers who actually taught us skills instead of remembering stupid information to get us through an exam.

by better .. i ment better than it was in it’s fucked state … not better than it was b4 you fucked your self up … … scar tissure srings to mind … the body repears it’s self .. but that’s only a protective mesure … idealy our bodys would like to not have to repair as they wouldn’t be damaged … but they have that inbuilt cos you would just bleed to death from a paper cut …. your cut will heal .. but the tissue will be of sub standard quality in comparison to the rest of your skin …. you brain can fix it’s self to a certain extent … once something is broken .. it rarley gets bck to it’s original state … this go for cd’s … chairs .. any thing you can break
my immature pick for the day:
actually i cant think of one :hopeless:
