Wow these heavy rain showers and long sunny spells, not to mention the muggy damp nights are just perfect for an excellent crop of those little ‘happy chappys’. Just hope the frost stays away until November.
Happy picking and brewing evryone. Don’t forget to flick the heads to disperse the spores as someone regularly mentions.

just got back from dartmoor, but didn’t find a single one 😥
maybe still a little too warm
have been searching in some places where i normaly find loads but none yet 🙁
Yeah. Need several damp cool nights like last night. The forecast is for the day temps to drop to around 17/18 degrees which should get the little fungi popping up.
Good luck next time and don’t forget the early bird catches the worm:wink:
yes early doors :groucho:
have seen lotsof other fungi about but none of the gooduns, been finding some mad tree fungi
we’ve passed that Autumn equinox (Mabon) so the weather should change in the right direction. The barometer here has dropped about 10mb in 3 days so there should be more rain…
We always put our clocks forward 1 hour on the Sunday after the Spring equinox so why do we wait until around Oct.21st to put the clocks back 1 hour? Just wondering. So in effect there are 7 months with the time added on GMT.
see, global warming ain’t all bad…
Id like to llok for some of these, but wouldnt have a clue where to start. I dont live in the cou try or anything. Although i live near to a big park with loads of trees would there be any there dya think??

It was me:groucho:
But alas I shall be in warmer climes. Maybe next year, especially near the ‘snake pass’. I’ve heard there are tonnes of the little blighters there.:crazy_diz
i don’t live in the country either, although i guess i live closer than some
i’ve never seen liberty caps in a public park, but there is another (much rarer) variety than does sometimes grow on lawns (so prolly in parks too)
but i can’t remember the name of them
I saw some other sort of mushrooms on a lawn today so I guess the conditions are now right for them…
mushrooms grow from sping till late autumn
certain strains only grow in certain conditions
having said that, a lot of the other kinds that are usually out at the same time as liberty caps are also out at the moment
