  • I’ll be posting SWIM findings/results/thoughts on here as well, if anyone happens to be interested on the subject. Plan on utilizing multiple tests, etc…might even wear a lab coat haha :weee:

Who is testing poor SWIM for these things? And if the results are positive for Benzos doe’s SWIM have to produce a prescription?

This is why I’m glad I’m in the UK where mostly companies and stuff do not require random drug tests. I see it as an invasion of privacy. What people get up to in their spare time should be up to them as long as it doesn’t interfere with their performance at work.

It seems like random drugs tests such as these push people into drugs which have a hell of a lot less research into any potentially harmful aspects.

Also who the fuck IS swim?

Or rather, what is the acronym that SWIM stands for?

I’ve been thinking the same. Seen Swim mentioned in several thrrads of people seemingly needing info on friends behalf, I’m dubious though. If people need help for themselves they should just say. There’s no discrimination or judging here

Just general advice for any kind of detox;-

    1) Reason people take drugs is to alter their own chemistry. Usually they have a history that they cannot face, and take some kind of chemical to alter their thought patterns.

    2) Chemicals are NOT JUST RECREATIONAL DRUGS. Everyday food products like coffee, tea, alcohol, sugar (and artificial sweeteners like Aspartame) also affect physiological patterns. So plan to reduce those as well.

    3) To make up the “happiness” factor, GET RID OF THE MEMORIES that are causing the problem. Right them down. Blog them. Doesn’t matter if you come across as bat shit crazy, your truth is your truth. At least if it’s on paper you can point people at the story without re-telling it a 1,000 times. Plus, it helps set a marker for your feelings – a “low point” at which you started to fight back.

    4) LIfestyle choices – you have to feel you have some worth and value. Practise of craft skills, (making art/music/pictures) or just helping other people around you has an enormous effect on the “feel good” factor.

    5) The tough one – diet. Having a very healthy, loads of fruit and veg, not much milk, fat, sugar and meat, does wonders for a detox.

    6) Study other people who have suffered and struggled with a problem. Try “A day in the life of Ivan Denisovich” or a similar tale of people battling impossible odds just to survive. There are heroes all around you that have tales of their own. Get inspiration from other people – movies are movies, they are NOT real life, and real life is NOT a movie.

A detox isn’t a holiday from ill-health. It should be a pathway to a better, healthier, happier life.

Your brain and body can produce all the “drugs” you need – IF you treat them right, and don’t let the down factors in life take you down with them.

Finally – ANY kind of tranquiliser or anxiety reducer – don’t just stop them dead. Taper them off very gradually (months or even years). The idea is that you can get to a stage where you can go without them. Not set yourself up for a titanic battle with yourself.

I must admit, I had to look it up.

    Urban Dictionary: S.W.I.M.

Generally speaking, “Someone Who Isn’t Me”. Often it is them, but it’s a form of denial and so seeks a more objective answer.

So its the same as saying “my friend” or “someone i know” or “my aunties siamese cat”. Riiiiiiiight.

Hmmm… fancy a lie down on a couch and telling me when these delusions started? The ones about being a qualified psychiatric professional?
