does anybody have any advice on what phone to get next? Ive got a N73 and it is a total bag of shit, keeps turning off, freezing etc etc. So totally fed up with nokias. Im looking at the sony ericsson W880i and the K850i, but ones got a ace camera and the others got a slick sony walkman function. I want the best of both worlds. Any ideas?
Get an mp3 player and a cheap digital camera and the cheapest phone you can find. Works out cheaper and breaks less.
No point spending top dollar on a phone which does all 3 averagely.

I agree,
i just use hand me downs for phones now. When someone up grades and my phone dies i just have their old one. Had a V3 for ages until i smashed it, now using an N91 which is huge but does the job 😉

I see what your saying and i have got quite a good 20G mp3 player, But its just having my pockets weighed down full of shit that i dont really like. Much easier to have all 3 combined. It’d be on contract to, so wouldnt be paying for it. (apart from the huge monthly bills for 18mnths!)
If you lose it tho, it does mean you’ve lost your phone, camera and mp3 player all at once. Not good.
i’ve got the W880i and it works really well, is intuitively designed, very slim and light and no slide up / flip up to break on it. the sound is pretty good (for an mp3 player)
they are one of the best phones available IME and i’m fussy… i smashed my samsung to smithereens because it was so frustrating
Is that get stressed because its shit then realise it doesn’t bounce? :laugh_at:
it bounced off the wall a couple of times. i then made a concerted effort to bust it by getting my boots on and ending it properly
there’s a bigish hole in the plaster in my living room

You may have sold me. Is the camera any good?
@ slinging your phone into the wall.. yep i did that a few years ago, frisbee’d it at my bed when it cut off for the 100th time. It then bounced into the wall and disintergrated. It was one of those LG phones on 3 when they first came out. Fuck me they were so shit!
Lol at getting your boots out to finish it off. ha ha ha.
you should get an Ericsson 332 like Noel Edmonds has

seriously, all my mates these days seem to have a mixture of Sony Ericsson K or W series.
I’ve got a K800i which has a reasonable camera but not quite as good as a standalone digital camera (but I am fussy about photo qualities)
W series, as expected, are geared towards sound (but I did find the MP3 player on the K800i wasn’t bad).
unfortunately the handsfree kit on mine has developed a fault so I haven’t been listening as much.
that may be just as well though as I nearly crashed my bicycle into an Anglian water roadworks and came close to knocking down two emos whilst listening to one of Ill Horse’s mixes and not paying attention to the road..
W series
id like one of those oldskool phones for home. My parents used to have a red one like the batphone when i was a kid. Bet they are really expensive now as they are retro.
There is a company that has bought the original moulds for the pone and is selling them again (digital internals though) but its about £70 or something
i bet theres loads knocking around in car boots, charity/second hand shops tho…
which model? 300 series (“deal or now deal” type phone) or 700 series (the one most peoples parents would have been likely to have)
you can get a replica 700 series (with push buttons rather than a dial and the “new” letter codes) for about £30.
The authentic 700 series phones can be got for about £15-50 depending on condition and/or whether they have been correctly restored (if not they will take excessive ringing current for a modern line and cause problems with other extension phones).
Or some abandoned offices / buildings often still have 700 series phones (look in what remains of the comms room!)
I obtained and restored a red one date marked 1972 (my year of birth!), which I still have at home. I am going to connect it to a VOIP line one day (once I have worked out a way of converting the pulse dialling to DTMF!) just for the comedy value …
Thats the one, not the same a the deal or no deal phone
