Berghain!!
Anywhere in Berlin, personally I’d be more interested in the landscape and architecture of the place, the history is amazing.
Can’t tell if this is someone who’s stumbled on this place due to all the geese references, or you’re a spammer (We have a habit of replacing spam with geese pics, so you can understand my confusion lol).
Either way, welcome to FoL. 🙂
who do you think it might be?(I even filled in the rest of the profile, and mentioned I would be carrying out some research) Think of what the user name is an anagram of and its significance to locals 😉
My friend Richard who runs the community farm with his wife Joanne and breeds geese worked there for ages but took his early pension. Richard is half German but also Asian, but he does have hair and is short), Joanne is but of North European ancestry and way taller than him. A while back they sold the small VW motor car they own (keeping the camper) as they usually rides thier bicycles now he is retired. With the money he bought a Hameg oscillocope/logic analyser; those are the “budget” brand of Rhode & Schwarz which means you “only” have to shell out €2 500 instead of €25 000.
This was for his workshop where he built the custom goose egg incubator, I remember him discussing these devices a while back, he was using an Arduino and LM317 temp sensors to trigger a Raspberry PI with a GSM card, but the kit has to be set up to go into standby if there isn’t any data to send or it will cane the accu that is used on the remote sites for lots of other stuff, both the computer boards are relatively greedy for power and more so when you start using GSM adapters.

“Alas Dark Prat” ? :laugh_at:
Don’t know why I didn’t think it had something to do with you … was so obvious now I think about it. 😛

not too far off, one of their boffins (then in his 50s) was with his mates getting stoned in the basement, he is very much into eco friendly hippy stuff so decided they should put all the electric light off and return to tribal ways. In the big Ipswich town houses the UKPN service cable enters via the basement to the meter board; so he turned off the incomer and they started howling like wolves, at least until he was berated by his wife and his teenage sons (as of course the telly/radio and most of their computers were also off supply, and the lads were revising for their exams)
you’d think he’d at least have set up a UPS on the router and some solar powered emergency lamps, that way they could have their howling session and test the accus as the same time 😉
I’ve been there a couple of times, it isn’t very interesting inside (most of it is empty) apart from the tower bit and that is locked off big time (partly to stop people jumping off it due to short term employment/layoffs but also as some PRISM project kit is up there). I can see how some bits of it were once a fun place to work in but all those projects got cancelled when the recession bit…
the anagram is because their canteens are notoriously bad, I feel sorry for all the Asians who get sent there, they must send back skype messages (when the broadband works) about “bad weather, unfriendly natives and appalling food”…
Hello Joksgez, you can visit night clubs and museums if you’re interested, I did a similar holiday last year, stayed in Prenzlauer Berg.
Heh Jokez, I’d like to know how your trip to Berlin was? Me and a friend are planing to do the same in August…
too late now 🙁 i would have advertised the ‘suicide circus’ ! remember for your next visit…. it is hard to get into the berghain, but suicide circus is really special too!
Berghain, Tresor (!)
Chalet / Watergate – both more and more touristy, but easier to get in to.
