i think about 90% of middle-old age age men have an SLR
A few months ago me and Scouse were getting a train to Woodbridge to meet up with m45k1 and help him with working on a Bedford TK he had bought, and there was a middle aged trainspotter dude with a SLR taking pics of these locomotives (I think they are for the Felixstowe freight line)
I was tempted to bribe him with a years supply of pies to rob one of them and a carriage or two (usually these dudes know everything about trains including how to drive them) so we could use it to take people back and forth to parties but I probably would have got heavily busted for terrorism for even considering an escapade..

BTW had to edit my post and the quoted one to clarify it wasn’t all of us what bought the truck… I don’t even drive let alone have a C1 license…the vehicle is on tribal living anyway for those interested in such things.
I believe Scouse is in India at the moment (which is why he hasn’t been on here for ages) – I hope he is in better health than the summer, as when we did get there he had “hurt his neck” and couldn’t get under the van to remove some bolts so I had to get my aged bones into that space and remove them (and get mud, rust, dried horse shit fall down on me from above..)

plenty of numbers on display in Denmark (but actually the “serial” number rather than warrant card number)
but people still getting kettled and roughed up
they all got the same numbers on them

yep thats what I meant by “serial” number.
A “serial” is what the police officially call a riot van – in Britain it contains usually a sarge (sometimes two) and 6-8 bobbies
Consider the (ficticious) Eastern Constabulary with a main callsign/force identifier of M2VX (the M2 bit means UK for talking on airwave or other radio networks with overseas forces and isn’t always used in Britain, usually the last two letters only which also appear on protective helmets)
if there are 3 serials vans they will have callsigns like
VX 1 Alpha
VX 2 Alpha
VX 3 Alpha
and every individual officer on duty in the serial will be known by that same callsign
If they were joined by metpol units (M2MP, this callsign is quite well known from films and TV) there would be
MP 1 Alpha
MP 2 Alpha etc..
The Danes are doing this but they use the numbers instead of letters.
There isn’t any right for a citizen to know the exact identity of a public sector worker, when I was in the Civil Service my staff number was (and still is) classified RESTRICTED and if I was operational staff there would be circumstances where managers would authorise use of even giving a fake name for my protection (if I was doing something really controversial)
