  • Basically i had the PC set back to Factory settings and every thing was wiped, Included most of the problems it had!

Except now im havin a few problems with the audio driver.

When i go into the device manager theres is a yellow ! Exlamation mark next to the “Multimedia audio controller” .

So i click on it and it comes up with

    Quote:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

Tried reinstallin driver but it cant find it and i ent got a disc for it. There seems to be a list of things but nothin named “Multimedia audio controller”

what make / model number is the PC?

If your sound card is built into your motherboard you should be able to find drivers there,

But knowing the PC would make it easier :bounce_fl

Ok so i got the driver sorted but still no sounds?? Im shit with computers to be honest. It had a new motherboard fitted not long ago and there were no drivers present on reboot. “The tech guys” reckon we rebooted it wrong but how many different ways can you do it FFS?

who made the motherboard? and which board is it?

Aint got the slightest scooby doo m8? Take it the cover will have to com off?

if you kept the box the motherboard came in there is sometimes a label on the side with the model and revision numbers (both are important)

Unfortunately its not uncommon for hardware manufacturers to change the components used in the same model number halfway through the production run

so its easy to download what you think are drivers for your kit but what you need are those for an earlier or later revision (I’ve been caught out a few times this way)

motherboard may identify itself on boot up [hit the pause button to view this and hit it again to resume the boot up]
    check and see 😉

You can get a copy of Sisoft Sandra (the lite version is a free download), which will interrogate your hardware vendor ID chips and tell you what make the mobo is (it will likely also tell you what type of sound chip it is).

Odds are it’s a version of the Realtek AC97 chipset (which is fairly ubiquitous as an integrated sound chip these days). The link is a generic download for AC97 chips made by Realtek….

Hopefully that should do the trick – if not, then install Sandra and find out the make/model of your mobo is…
