Yea i just think this whole thing is sad.. HEre in the states if a shelter cannot keep them they are put down. THat might not be ok with somepeople but I think if they cant take care of them and they are starving to death anyway out them out of their missery… Yea well in japan i never saw a stray animal ever… So even if the chips arnt all they are talked up to be … It seemed to do a better job then countries without the chips
Yeah we have chips here too, but they aren’t compulsory yet I don’t think, though I think it’s being enacted next year or in 2015 not sure. It costs about £40 or something I think and is just a tiny tiny chip located between their shoulders (in dogs atleast). Both my dogs have it and tbh I don’t see why any responsible owner wouldn’t get their pets chipped.

I agree with you… That being said any owner who actually loves their dogs… Bc most people i know who have animals loves them more than their children sometimes.

In Japan they have only very recently been affluent enough to keep pets (their economic growth mostly happened in the 1980s because of electronics and computers) and many pets are kept by older people whose own children have left for Western countries (or they never had kids of their own) so they are very well cared for and looked after.
Also the layout is different with a lot of parks and green space which they seem to let the cats, dogs and older people just wander about in as they please and everyone is encouraged to look after these areas and take photos of them (if you look on flickr or youtube you can see many photos and videos of this). Whereas cars and bikes and metro trains and other “fast/busy streets” are elsewhere. Even if you have lived there it might be hard to notice as unless you can read Japanese you may have been worried about getting lost and not explored the place, I don’t understand Japanese and only found these parks myself whilst looking for funny cat videos on Youtube (something else they are good at making :laugh_at:)
It is a modern concept but linked to ancient Asian cultural ideas , although another big factor in Japan is that all the people can only live in a small part of it as there are too many earthquakes and other extreme weather phenomena to live in other areas. So everything is supposed to “be in its place”.
Northern European nations try to do this as well. England isn’t quite as advanced as the Netherlands or Germany in this respect but even here a lot of the people who are aged 60 and above are the ones who look after the stray animals (like how they had already worked out what to do about the cow I encountered in the rural areas!) and I have seen a lot more older people with bull terriers now which they are getting from the rescue centres.

Ok I want all of you to know i am Not a animal hater… But it REally pisses me off when i see Stray animals on the street… I personally will not own an animal… only bc I do not want to take care of something when i have a heard time taking care of myself. So the way i see it i am doing the world a favor…But i fucking cant stand it when i see sick dogs and cats on the streets bc someone wanted an animal but didnt take care of it…. I dont know why it pisses me off like it does but I just makes me want to punch a cunt….. ANyone else feel the same or is it just me
I know what you mean, it really fucks me off when people get pets and don’t take their responsibilities seriously. The worst is these cunts that get a puppy and are then surprised that it grows into a dog, and suddenly they can’t (or can’t be bothered to) deal with it, fucking retards!

Yeah man, to me that is also animal cruelty. For some reason people don’t see pets as living thing that entails responsibility, I think it’s due to our consumerist society tbh.
My dogs are very much a part of my family, they’ve been there for most of my life and i’ll be well upset when they die as if they were a family member. Well to me they are family members.

yep thats exactly why all the grannies and grandads on my estate are walking around with staffy’s instead of or as well as their spaniels, its not because they want to look hard and are scared of being robbed but they are rehoming the ones the younger people can no longer look after… I’m on a few electronics forums where folk collect proper old skool kit and I am one of the youngest on there, average age is 50-75 and they all seem to have a zoos worth of animals that they have picked up from the rescue home and most of the middle aged people round here do this..
Many people don’t even realise the responsibilities of having a dog to be honest.
Like who’s going to care for it when you want to go out or whatever? Are you going to pick up its shit when you go for a walk?

Thankfully the older generation are very animal friendly mate, saves a lot of perfectly healthy dogs from the needle.

I’m pretty sure you have to pick up its shit by law these days mate, it ain’t the most glamorous part of keeping a dog, but it has to be done. I never walk mine without making sure I’ve got bags in my pockets, and I’m always more than happy to have a go at someone if it looks like they’re not gonna pick up after their dog too.

This reminds me that I stumped a mounted police officer the other day when I saw their horse shit on the road. I called to them asking if they were going to pick it up. They replied “No” to which I retorted that had it been a dog they would be legally obligated to do so and that didn’t the horse also count as an officer of the law? As in if I were to assault the horse I’d be charged with assaulting an officer not animal cruelty, so by that logic it was the equivalent to the officer themselves shitting on the road. They tried to counter my argument but without actually knowing what the legal status of the situation reluctantly cleaned it up much to my and their colleagues amusement lol.
Why is it……………
When you talk to a dog, they listen intently, and genuinely try to understand and do what you tell them ( even if they often get it wrong )
BUT
When you talk to a cat, they just look at you like you’re an idiot, almost like an Englishman abroad ‘If your not going to speak in my language just fuck off’

Ahahahaha, genius mate, love it!

That doesn’t stop people from not doing it – the amount I see is ridiculous. I always carry bags around when walking my dogs aswell, to be honest I don’t see why people wouldn’t, like you say it’s not the most glamorous par of it but it stops someone getting it on ’emselves and some other poor bugger is gonna have to do it if you don’t which is unfair on them.

Exactly….THis is the reason i refuse to have an animal… IS it a bad thing that i do not want the responsibility.. I dont give a shit to be honest. I just dont want to care of something that i do not need or want. I just wish others would do the same fucking thing instead of get an animal that they end up dropping off somewhere.. It happens so much here in the states… its not only dogs and cats… people are letting horses go in the forest because they can no longer care for it.
