Surly the trick is to not piss them off too much, dont be rude etc Im sure there are enough poliece in the area to stop all but the largist of raves if there was enough will and budget. Though I dont know, but where theres a will theres a way.
i run and hide! not worth the hastle … i been treated like shit by cops b4 .. and confronting them doesn’t work … if the police bust a party .. then i’ll just move on .. if they bust it hard i’ll gtfo asap … if they just turn up .. then i will rave till the party is either over … i have to leave .. or .. the pigs decide to go in
only way to fight the rozzers is with a lawyer I would think, cant emagine agression and physical action would do anything but hurt you, the scene and what not. I would hide too.
To be fair the coppers nearly always seem to turn up to the partys i’v been to and have never been anything other than poliete and pointless. But i’m sure iv just been lucky tbh.

maybe your a lucky charm!
lol
the cops have had the resources to bust every rave every weekend since the 1990s.
one reason it didn’t happen as much back then (although there were occasionally nasty scenes even in “safe” areas like SE England) was because landowners and locals didn’t complain as much (bear in mind the farmers had bigger subsidies and the economy was way better).
Another was technology – although cops had all the surveillance kit they had an outdated analogue radio system, about 25 years old by that point. It had two drawbacks – one was that by the 1990s, people could easily afford radio scanners to listen to the cops 😉 – the other was that during summer in SE and Eastern England, the Police radios often picked up the sound tracks from foreign TV channels, which made it unsafe for officers to use them for tense situations like closing down a rave!
by 2004/05 many constabularies had switched to the digital Airwave radio system, which can’t be scanned, usually works in rural areas and can even work as a telephone so a moaning local can talk straight to a cop on their radio to give them directions to a rave site…
A local issue in East Anglia is that there has been a history of working class resistance spanning centuries (going back to the middle ages!) so over the years anyone in authority here has been trained how to deal with stubborn people and to be equally stubborn, using escalating levels of force to achieve their aims…

True if they do turn up have a designated speaker to negotiate with them. I’ve seen many a london squat party saved by good negotiating, controlling sound and ensuring fire escapes etc.
Although if it’s above a certain size they really cant do fuck all, as it means tons of riot police have to be got out of bed and paid overtime. That’s huge cost for little benefit.. a containment policy is usually decided on by the man in charge when the police who first find the rave radio back for backup

this really only applies to raves in metpol force area and in low-income high crime areas in shitty parts of Londonistan…
I witnessned an occasion in 2005 where a number of London/SE England crews fucked up and used a high value between lets building in West London – within hours what looked like a quarter of Scotland Yard was there – 16 serials (riot vans), just flooded the place with cops, they didn’t need to put on the riot gear (although it was doubtless there), just sheer force of numbers to make it clear this party wasn’t going to carry on…
in the provinces money is literally no object.
From monitoring a lot of FOI stuff released here in East its clear a few years ago the feds, NHS and councils have sat down, done their maths and worked out the “negative costs” of raves (damage to property/environment, cost of dealing with associated criminal activity, cost to the NHS of dealing with peopels addictions and overdoses) – this is much more than the cost of sending a few riot cops every so often to close down events…
I’ve just uploaded the copy I saved, of this original clip of the fight between Suffolk ravers and the police as they tried to forcefully take their generator, after we were asked to take it down and it was deleted from youtube…
