  • To OP, sounds like you have a good understanding of things.

Go in metaphorically with eyes open, like you say, but lying down with eyes closed and internalizing the experience can do some really good things, beyond enhancing visuals. It can be good in a group to share and communicate, but particularly when it is intense have a vibe where everyone can go within for a good long while.

A bad trip can be a fear response. You can avoid mortal fear by really owning that the drug is safe, etc. The psychological/social fears are much trickier, but a person with good skills in these areas, some good emotional resilience, can bypass it or let this stuff roll away. If it gets challenging, don’t resist anything, try to learn to continuously allow and accept whatever comes up. It’s just you, after all. Get to know those parts. IMO if you do, it will pay huge long term dividends in life even if the situation is difficult.

A bad or mediocre trip can be a lot of other things which you seem to be hip to, i.e. feel into yourself and check if the time is really right. Meditate. Bon Voyage.

    Go in without fear

It’s just you, after all; I love that. I think that’s going to be my little ‘calm-myself-down’ line, cheers for that 🙂 hope you dont mind me using it 😉

What do you mean it will pay huge long term dividents in life? I’ve heard countless times that acid changes ur perspective on things, for the better. How can a drug do that? I mean, weed kinda did that for me but that’s only coz I adore Bob Marley and the whole ‘One Love’ idea, and it’s made me a happier, content person. (even though Bob Marley himself is said to have been militant at some point in his life haha the irony) Please someone enlighten me as to how LSD changes ur perspective on things, coz that’s mainly the reason why I want to do it. I love the idea of having a great, unique experience and then being left a different person at the end of it all.

Also, thanx guys for all the wonderful advice, and hilarious stories – I truly love this site now 🙂 xx

One more question though; my boyfriend told me I wouldn’t be able to handle it. 🙁
I am quite sensitive by nature, so he thinks I’d freak out and have a really bad trip. Do you think if I go into it fully enthusiastic and without fear, and I’m already having a great time (I’ll probably buy some and bring them with me to whatever event I’m going to and decide there if I feel like taking it) I could still have a bad trip? I’m sooo excited to see the visuals and experience something so different, and see what my own mind is capable of doing, but I don’t want to be carried home with sick all over me, crying coz I’m freaking out and ruin everyones night including my own.
Is LSD a drug you kind of have to build up to? Should you already have a high enough tolerance for drugs before you try LSD? That’s another thing my bf mentioned, I smoke weed almost everyday, but I’ve only done coke twice and E 4 times (and freaked out the first two but like I said it was a long time ago and I’ve wised up) so do you think I should experiment a bit more before going for LSD? x

Just my opinion, but… if you can learn to handle hallucingens and function on them, be able to cope even when you are tripping – it makes it that much easier to cope and “hold your fire” in all sorts of stressful situations when the adrenaline is naturally pumping around your blood stream and bending the way you think “normally”.

I’ve known people who ALWAYS lost complete control of their bodily functions when on acid. Wasn’t an issue for them, they just fitted themselves out with an adult-sized nappy. Pretty rare type, they actually got off on being completely incapable. What you are worried about here is embarrassing yourself… which is understandable, but it’s not fully adult. Adults can do all kinds of silly things (stand up comedy, for instance) and embarrass themselves totally. So what?

Having a really comfy, safe, low stress environment when you can chill out and relax is by FAR the most important thing. Good company to trip with is another.

However, eventually you will realise that all the dreams and phantoms you saw weren’t physically real, rather just after images of your own memories. At that point, you realise you don’t need “medicine”, in the sense of recreational drugs, and you start to be a lot more choosy about what you do in real life rather than just running away from it.

You’re a smart girl. You’ve already got the tools you need to got on in life. LSD will give you an alternative view – but it won’t empower you. Only you can do that. 🙂

I have a question, if you have a bad trip can it haunt you for the rest of your life? Like do you have flashbacks of stuff you’ve seen

You can have flashbacks but its certainly not haunting, its more a similar feeling to dejavu. theyre not to worry about

    Ok good to know, thankss!

Had a Bad trip this weekend at a psy party…..

2.5gr of B+ mushies…..2 acid tabs bit of mandy….. All was going really well untill i did a line of ket……

Boom, whole place was against me, everyone sort of slowed down and started growling and making horrible faces, a guy walked past me and I swear I herd him say “your next you cunt” and held a knife to my stomach……..but my mate said he politely asked to get past….

I just thought someone was starting on me every minute or a fight was gonna kick off when actually everyone was really nice and there was a great vibe, propper shit me up!…..once the ket wore off I went back to my happy trippy state and carried on looking at my friend whos face morphed into a avatar with green eyes and gold tribal face paint….weird stuff!

Still had a wicked night tho.

First – don’ get me wrong. Hallucinogens and trips are POWERFUL medicine. They should be treated with some respect and caution. The same goes for drugs which cause hallucinations in very large doses (like, cannabis).

Actually you don’t need to be on hallucinogens to have a “bad trip” effect. People with Post Traumatic typically relive their traumatic experience many times.

I guess the difference is between trip flash backs and non-trip flash backs is that you can definitely point the finger at the acid and say “Aha! You are responsible for this!”.

Bit silly really – fear and bad emotions happen to everybody. If you are FORCED to live according to your fears, then really you are still a child.

Adults get afraid, yes. But they can rise above their fears. That is the difference between courage (unfeeling determination) and bravery (being afraid, but acting for the best anyway).

Hahahaha that made me laugh out loud, all too familiar with this lol

    🙂

People growling walking towards me seems to happen quite alot…..its stange….The first time it ever happened I was Casually strolling through a huge crowd of about 2000 people at bestival…..again….BOOM whole place went slow and started growling and walking towards me…..I stood still like OHHHHH SHIT then it went back to normal…Luckily I can handle trips quite well but I can see people freaking out and running for theyre lives lol

i think if u keep upping the dose u will at some point end up running round with homemade spear and pants on your head

I was on a bad one for about 20 minutes (although it felt like an hour lol) this saturday. I got into a locked loop where I kept thinking I wasn’t where I was and was in fact lying on the kerb somewhere. It was very strange and was most likely brought on by a sudden change in environment (as well as having spent about 10 minutes alone on the street at 5 AM). It was actually a good experience for me though and I’m glad it happened.

K does that on potent psys. sortathing you wanna dose if you’re with mates at home and you want to go further on the cid… i always thought it turned cid sloopy and ugly tbh. seems most do! best done on the acid comedown to really fuck shit up again! 😀

Ah yes the bad trip, most users will have one sooner or later, I think my worst was actually quite mild compared to some, feelings of dread, total paranoia not trusting even your best friends, thinking everyone is staring at you and talking about you, basically wanting everyone to go away and leave you alone, cant deal with company, focusing on negatives and thinking you have done yourself permanent damage, left riding it out wishing the trip to end. Very unpleasant, though as I said I heard of people having much worse and doing harm to themselves and damage to their homes when in a delusional state.

BUT the worst ‘bad trip stories’ do seem rare compared to the number of people who try LSD, most trips in my experience are a lot of fun, and the major downfall of LSD is the comedown, far worse than any other comedown I have had, bulging wide eyed insomnia, burned out and like every nerve in your body has been fried. I had one comedown that lasted over 24 hours, just sat rocking back and forth unable to function, and pretty spaced for a week afterwards ( I probably over did it with 3 or 4 microdots )

Much as I enjoying tripping back in my early-mid teens I would not take it now even if given it for free, not because of the risk of bad trips, but because the good trips have such high price in the following days.
