i wasn’t suggesting that you have bombed or have any ill intent, my point was just that if u ‘don’t worry about making sense of it’ cos God has got it all covered, then you’re living you’re life blindfolded hoping God will hold you’re hand and guide you through. in my opinion if you are happy to let God decide everything for you then you’re likely to be susceptible to being misguided by someone using religion for unsavoury means. there are a lot of people in the world that (imo) are very good at listening to others and being disciplined, but that are too scared/shortsighted/unwilling to engage their own logic and reasoning to see that they are actually making the choices that suit them…

so i’m not claiming that you will do anything other than good in your life, maybe this is because there is kindness in your heart that could never be overpowered, or maybe its only because you’re environment has not been one that would generate this kind of action… but i am saying that there are lot of people that put their trust in ‘God’ and listen wholeheartedly without any room for logic/reason/humility to religious leaders who use religion as a way of generating power by unifying people. and in this environment and with this state of mind a person is capable of… well anything really. also a lot of non-religious people are capable of being unified to do horrible things by some other means, but using religious beliefs as the unifying force seems to be very effective as all that is important is not in this world; i.e. God, heaven and hell (or however it works in a particular belief system): importance is placed on intangible things, thus making all that is tangible far less important. in this situation a feeling of supremacy may be experienced and with it a feeling of authority to make ‘God’s decisions’ in this world in a game of ‘God’s children’ vs ‘the inifidels’

anyhow this is an extreme end of the spectrum, but it was just to make a point. commonly religious people (as we all know) are really nice, kind people that surely if there is a God and heaven they will be one of the ones with a ticket. but if all religious people decide to stop thinking cos God’s holding their hand, and all the infidels go to hell, then God’s going to be left with the sticky end of the gene pool (pun intended :p). maybe God would like you to think for yourself, and in your case – have the attention span to read a whole article. conversely, if u can’t be bothered to read a whole article, maybe you’re opinions are likely to be somewhat narrow/naive. lastly it sounds quite discourteous to be like ‘i couldn’t be bothered to read the relatively short conclusions of a 12 year study that someone kindly shared, but i did have an epiphany of my own’ – lmao

hmm, I really don’t like this whole thing where we set out to destroy each other, which honestly is normally where this kind of thing would be going lol. I don’t want to take the time to explain myself, but trust me I’m impatient, not stupid. My main point from all of this is, that I find hope in God and when I can’t figure something out after much intelligent deliberation its very comforting to know that I have God to bring it to. It is my belief; that we have and incredible God out there, here it comes.

Before I start (and yes this is really happening) I’d like to make it very clear that I have nothing but love for you as another person on this earth and if you choose to disagree with me, I’ll be praying. Also it is not my intent in any way to make you feel bad or disrespect you.

Why God exists, and why there is no reason we shouldn’t believe…

Where did everything come from? Well, in any reasonable scientific theory it is well known that matter cannot just be created out of nowhere, because logically and physically it makes perfect sense. So, in order for anything to be created out of nothing we needed a “Prime Mover” to set things in motion. Science recognizes the need for a PM, and in order for all of our laws of the universe to stay intact, the PM would have to operate on a completely different set of rules exempt from the limits of science, from a different realm so to speak. Now we’ve got God, sure from there on I’ll give you evolution. Why? because it makes perfect sense. But there had to be God to set it in motion.

So why should we believe? Erase everything you think you know about the christian faith. Clean slate here we go. Ok now i want you to notice something. I have one instruction for you: 1. exist. Holy shit this is amazing! Ideas, senses, indescribable feelings, knowledge, the universe, memories that are really all just a bunch of specialized micro-fibers of energy units. Now, all God wants you to do is admit that He made it and that He is superior to you, which, given the perspective, He is. Also He wants you to believe that He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross and go to hell for your sins (yes he did beat hell and ascend into heaven), and that is purely beneficial, its not hard or inconvenient, in fact the exact opposite, and it improves your life.

Why the fuck would I someone so small deny God of my submission. Is it fair for God to let people go to hell when they turn him down, yes. It takes like twenty seconds not to go to hell. And its a great deal! You don’t have to change how you live, if you don’t want to, but you will want to. The deal that you make when you accept Jesus into your heart is respect going up from you to God, and Love coming right back down from God to you. It’s about LOVE. What is a sin? Something that goes against love. It’s so simple.

Sorry If this ever had a negative tone attached to it. I hope I got my message across, its a lot easier to say than type. 🙂

awwww, and i love you too. reading back now, my post does seem a bit harsh, but then for some life is very harsh and often that is due to the ignorance and arrogance of others… i only try to show perspectives but i dont have anything against you or your theism. i was actually a christian for about 5 years.

so… my post was only on the topic of blind faith which is something that bothered me when i was in church and now that im not. there is something that makes alarm bells go off in my head when we put our trust in an intangible being and stop critically analysing.

this has similarities to a sales person turning up at your door saying ‘its a great deal, its so simple, just 20 seconds, sign here please,’ but even if it is the deal, literally (lol), of a lifetime, how am i to know? there are many other salesman out there. will God really give me the ultimate punishment for making a mistake?… ‘but God why are u sending me to hell when i worked for a charity all my life when ur letting in some corporate slug just cos he did a 20 second deal with you?… and in some parts of the world (mostly due to the lack of war) there are no sales people, such as eskimos. will our compassionate God with this amazing offer really send them to hell for a lack of signature? will God be like ‘bad eskimo, you should have realised that there was more to life than catching fish and riding around on sleds.’ …

i doubt God would go to all this trouble to make a universe so unimaginably vast and complex just to essentially be a doorman/bouncer for humans? ‘if ur names not down you’re not coming in.’ … and why would God want us to worship him?… is she/he a God with an inferiority complex that needs a constant reminder of how great she/he is for all the hard work and love? if i was a god (here we go :/), i wouldn’t build something so amazing with so much opportunity for experience to then say ‘dont experience these things, dont do this, dont touch that, just worship me, im feeling lonely here.’

also on this 20 second deal, i have a few quibbles about his holy book that i’d like to clear up with him before i make a signature, they’re mostly in the book of leviticus and exodus and as much as i try to accept that its God’s word, some of the scriptures just don’t sit within my moral compass… there isn’t a way to have these questions answered it seems so i guess i’ll have to risk eternal damnation for sticking to my values.

im very grateful for the praying by the way, thats very nice of you… maybe we can chat by private message if u like (but you’ll need 10 posts to be able to do that)

    peace and love x

Yeah i do understand what you are saying, like i mentioned, it is a lot harder to try to type out the whole shpeal without sounding like a salesman lol. Anyways, your questions are very valid and your logic holds very well. For me that’s just where faith comes in, I just accept that there are things that i wont be able to understand. Hell (for lack of a better term hehe), there are things other people on earth can understand, that i just cant. I just try not to beat myself up too hard about it. I’ll be working on the ten posts!

IMO Weed IS a gateway drug, just not to other illegals

Personally I never smoked tobacco until I smoked weed, and even though I rarely spoke weed anymore I am hopelessly addicted to Nicotine as are many of my friends

I also know several people who became drinkers when they stopped smoking weed, they stopped smoking weed because they grew up, had families, careers etc and needed something more socially acceptable & less likely to lead them losing what they have to take the edge off & chill, so now they drink alcohol every day

maybe drug use is the gateway to more drug use ?

I found that tobacco and alcohol were the main gateways as they were legal and I started on both around 15 (the collusion of stores owned by British Asians in the sales of these substances does have amusing facets (especially if you are British Asian) but in recent times hasn’t done Britain or race rmuch good..

In the 80s with a multicultural group of friends if purchasing underage at a local Asian shop you’d always ask the lad your age or his older brothers, never try and buy stuff from the girls and especially not the old granny lady (I felt too guilty anyway as she reminded me of Nan :laugh_at: ) – if you did the womenfolk would not just refuse to serve you but grass all of you up to your mums…

the lads though thought “business is business”. if they were older than you there was often friendly chats about stuff like teenage life, what you were plannign about college/uni and avuncular advice including “and don’t be acting like idiots in the street, or throwing empty cans/bottles around, as this week the policeman is visiting the shop and is giving me a warning about serving young people..”

(I still drink but quit smoking in 2009)

if e and lsd were socially acceptable……… ;’lsd has helped sanitise water and mdma helps people chill out and stop killing each other like f*kin lunatics!‘……. then they might be the gateway to ‘the depressive’ and ‘deconstrcutive’ alcohol and nicotine……… only the dregs get involved with alchy n nics … fuckin skum r they … hate em……….. going to be enjoying some guests over this afternoon jonathon for lunch on the grounds… fancy comin by… we’ll be having one of our ‘philanthropy with lsd and scones’ sessions……. but of course gregory

Alm ost punched a guy tonight for staring and my cousin on her 30th, i saw him look at her arse and wanted to punch him but my sis seen and stopped me, damn I wanted to punch him
