i been saying this for ages the tax on it would clear our coutries dept easy
Doubt its gonna happen but we can always hope
NL has been doing this for nearly 40 years (started around when I was born) – in reality it does reduce some costs to the public but without the whole EU doing this drugs tourism causes problems, also as dealing isn’t totally legalised there are often violent turf wars (you need to know a bit of Dutch to find this out). Also the dealers got greedy and put a “bug” into their computers to evade the taxes they should have been paying, the right wing politicians in NL unearthed this scam and now their tolerant policies are in danger..
Also NL have made cannabis with more than a certain amount of THC classed as harddrugs and with more penalties because their kids are having some mental and physical health problems..
im not even a smoker but think it should be legalised . as for holland i been about 4 times i think to amsterdam they have been threatening for years to stop tourist smoking but i honestly think they cant afford to and just say it so people book holidays there cos the think a ban is coming in

They are banning it but because NL is a very democratic nation and the local Councils have more power than in the UK the ban isn’t happening very quickly. it all depends on the Dutch which is fair enough as its their land but many are now voting for the conservative politicians. bear in mind lots of people go to NL for normal business and trade (for instance 30 or more cargo ships went there today) also middle aged middle class folk go to NL and spend far more on less controversial things, and the actual profit from drugs tourism is more like one person pissing in the North Sea.
The Amsterdam council are very smart and can work out all the profits and losses from each type of visit (TBH Dutch folk as a whole are very good with maths/statistics) and they are clearly finding (same as this side of the sea) that party culture doesn’t bring in as many Euros as it once did, for the cost of problems it causes. NL no longer wants to be seen as the hub of drugs and sex tourism of the EU.
