yeah i dont defend terrorism. from either side… when we do it’s called “legitimate war” and “collateral damage: yet when they do it its “terrorism”… s’all the same to me, blowin innocents up innit

i also believe the “war on terror” is irony in the extreme, how can you fight an ideology with guns, or terror with terror

sure islam is used as a front for many attacks, it may even have a major part to play, but theres plenty of politics and history too

The actual state of Israel was created in 1947-48 by the United Nations General Assembly. Britain had a lot to do with it as well i, Back then we owned or controlled Palestine i think. Basically all the troubles that are kicking off today between Israel and Palestine can be linked to us, The British. 😉

Accept, tolerate, learn from and about…absolutely…I try to respect other people culture and religion.
Social evolution does happen when ideas mix..I completely agree.

But what happens when your religion is law? Its the clash of laws that is a problem.
This is where accomodation becomes a problem. One law for me… another for you and another for someone else… only promotes a society of segregation not integration. Promtes fear and racism.

One of the best experiences so far for me has been the last 9 months here in sweden. I am currently completing a learn swedish course (free from the government) and in my class are cultures from all around the world. For the first time I have friends from Iran, Iraq, China, Palestine, Russia, europe etc… The discussions we have can be very eye opening especially regarding what is culturally accepted.

Some of the laws and realities regarding womens rights are particularly awful. So while the idea of accepting other cultures laws in theory might sound nice.. in reality its downright scary. (for women anyway)

Heres a link about womens rights in these countries.. would you like their law to be law in the UK?
Its important to say that not all men treat the women in these countries like this. I have met many really nice men from these counrties who speak and treat their wives with respect and love.

All I know is that for me it has really awakened me to what is going on around the world.
Makes me feel quite sad actually… so much hatred in the world due to religion…

I thought the original English people were like this (well thats what they said on Blue Peter anyway in the late 1970s… :laugh_at:)

but even then they apparently got the (fake) pearls because some Japanese ship foundered (probably overloaded with cheap “fancy goods” like this) the crates got washed up on the muddy banks of the Thames, apparently you were once allowed to go “mudlarking” and pick up whatever tat was there – which would still hint that hundreds of years ago there was trade with the Orient.

I expect this more recent couple probably just bought the pearl buttons off the net, and had them shipped from Hong Kong to Romford :laugh_at:

The muslims have a way to go before thats true – think holocaust, genocides [Native Americans, Cathars, Jews to name a few] [there have been lots – of some records survive but if they were christian little does], children’s crusade [lovely reading that makes], burning the heretics at the stake [thats a very christian pastime and IMO every bit as horrific as the tube bombings].

Media coverage is by its very nature [the media owners all have their own axes to grind] partial and there is a ‘silent’ editing of the news covered. By this I mean that the news you see is not set in context for you correctly with issues misreported to sell copy or grab headlines. They distort the news by sensationalizing it and they make more money if they can create a reliable market for this kind of news. So they do it more.
Routine atrocities go unreported because they dont feed this cycle of media consumption and so the view of the world you see through media sources is very badly distorted.

Only the news which can be sensationalised to fit their current ‘message’ sees airtime and currently some of the media is trying to foster an ‘us an them’ division in society with us being non muslims and them being muslims. Not only do I find that absolutely repulsive but its also what Hitler did with the Jews in Germany before he segregated them and tried to wipe them out. [Go check out the way in which he and his media machine manipulated the german’s people perceptions of the Jews from the start of his rise to power in the Nazi party to the holocaust. Its all clever and progressively divise propaganda designed to isolate one section of society and make them less than human and so allow them to be treated as badly as the society which now hates them can manage.] What Hitler did in the name of ideology some media does in the name of making more money :rant:

when people form their opinions based on what they see or read in the media, what comes out is twisted and sick and they usually find it acceptable to blame a group of people they don’t know, or know anything about, for all their problems

what is happening with Mulims in the media in this EU and USA has real echoes of the Nazis and other facist movements that have closed down open societies
