  • Norman Finkelstein explains how what’s often presented as a complicated problem isn’t that complicated and why it still hasn’t been resolved despite a consensus exisiting for 40 years. In his words the facts on the ground are pretty well known these days but these truths are being overlooked…

“Occupation 101” (abdallah Omeish, Sufyan Omeish)

Great eye opener about this conflict, everyone should watch this.

    “Why we fight” (Eugene Jarecki)

Insight about human nature which drives war

i’ve tried to watch this a coupla times but circumstances keep interupting, have only got halfway through the first one but so far . . .

the concepts he’s discussed about weighing up ‘given’ information, distrusting the ‘experts’ and discovering and admitting your beliefs are wrong/flawed are very interesting.

i look forward to getting through the rest of it, the actual history!

    isn’t it just!

trouble is the first thing to do is to teach people to question but what government wants to do that? therefore . . .

i lived in tel aviv and jerusalem 12 years ago, at the height of the peace process and the level of brainwashing on all sides made me really sad

Following story not a dig at anyone of any sort, just a sad true story

i worked with one particular american girl in spain, really nice lass, hard worker, all that an then one day we were watchin the news, bout the middle east etc and she turns to me an says

“you’ve really gotta watch these muslims, they’ll kill you in your bed soon as look at you . . . shame, i’m sure they’re really nice people if only they wern’t so brain washed”

FFS! I looked at her, an she just really did not get it!

    made me sad

    BUMP

I can’t be arsed to go through this whole thread and read like other peoples opinions and shit but I will provide an interesting piece written by ‘The Situationists’ from way back in the 1960’s…

    Two Local Wars
    SITUATIONIST INTERNATIONAL
    October 1967

The Arab-Israel war was a dirty trick played by modern history on the good conscience of the Left, which was communing in the great spectacle of its protest against the Vietnam war. The false consciousness that saw in the National Liberation Front the champion of ā€œsocialist revolutionā€ against American imperialism could only get entangled and collapse amidst its insurmountable contradictions when it had to decide between Israel and Nasser. Yet throughout all its ludicrous polemics it never stopped proclaiming that one side or the other was completely in the right, or even that one or another of their perspectives was revolutionary…..
