Fair play to the lady; at least she is not like those killjoys in Belgorod I mentioned in my other post
I wonder what is in the “herbal potion” she is drinking… 😀
A 70-year-old Russian grandmother is taking a small village east of Moscow by storm.
Yuliya Ryabinina, the director of culture for Bolshiye Otary, has decided that discos are the best way to connect with local teenagers.
And she has taken it on herself to spin the discs.
Under the guise of DJ Baba Yuliya, Mrs Ryabinina holds regular dance parties at the village hall.
“I’m a real party animal,” she tells Russia’s Channel One TV. “My feet and arms start moving and I just want to dance.”
Hardly a spring chicken any more, the groovy granny keeps her strength up at the turntables by taking a potion of herbs and roots.
Wanting to look good, she also takes great care with her makeup, the TV says.
Traditional Russian folks songs are strictly off the play list and Baba Yuliya plays only current pop songs.
In the remote village in Nizhny Novgorod region, it is not easy for the septuagenarian DJ to keep up with the latest tunes.
But she does not let this stand in her way and records any new songs she hears from her medium- and short-wave radio.
I’ll drink (herbs and roots) to that 😎
I read a thread on another party website that was a discussion about what age, if any, is the cut-off point for drug use… Glad to see a nonsense being made of that by such a common sense old biddy…

Bring on the good times grandma
how cool is that? respect to yuliya, blatantly
my dad came down with his girlfriend to our last club night in brighton and raved it up for an hour or so- and he a whippersnapper of 66 compared to her, still it always warms my heart when we get middle aged and ancient people at our free parties- gives me hope for the future…..

I just read on the news Saga (the old peoples group) were setting up group trips to dance clubs for those 40-60+ – this is for “new oldie clubbers” – ageing hippies and rockers who moved into the dance/urban music scene in the 1990s would of course already be attending these events
IMO a good thing as it will help the older genration understand why these events happen….
I am always glad to see so called ‘oldies’ when I go out. Used to go clubbing with some bloke & his dad. Now party with my boyfriend of 47 and friend of 46. I am 33. Frequently see grey haired bloke at the munt parties – he is friendly. I think the openess of parties is one of the great attractions for me – whatever age/whatever fashion statement you want to make/whatever rugs u like, come on in!!!
