Interesting development i just read about. Pretty scarey stuff if it was in the hands of the wrong people. Clever none the less.
It failed to bring Jim Carrey happiness in the award-winning film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but scientists have now developed a way to block and even delete unwanted memories from people’s brains.
Researchers have found they can use drugs to wipe away single, specific memories while leaving other memories intact. By injecting an amnesia drug at the right time, when a subject was recalling a particular thought, neuro-scientists discovered they could disrupt the way the memory is stored and even make it disappear.

i read somewhere else (can’t remember where) that it had potential uses for drug addiction… if you can’t remember ever getting high, you’re cravings are solved, or something
Thats fucked up! Bad memories are bad but they make someone who they are (i know this isn’t always a good thing!)
Scary shit
They used to think lobotomies and thalidomide werre a good thing. It’s scientists pushing the boudaries and making claims about what they don’t understand. The brain is still the most complex piece of machinery on the planet.
if you can’t remember ever getting high, you’re cravings are solved, or something
this is also the basis for using Hypnosis, either making you forget or associating bad feelings with it. It still rarely works though.
I can sorta see the uses for this but fuck me… scary!!!:hopeless:
Would you really want your memories removed – whether good or bad its the memory of your experiences that you learn and grow from – to start wiping out parts of peoples past sounds a scary thought to me – even if used for good what about the possible side effects on your state of mind of deleting part of your past.
Having said that though, in cases such as child abuse etc can see a compelling argument for letting people forget.
The really scary thought is this seems to be a step towards the future envisaged in Total Recall – what if this technology was used against the people by the government – opens up all sorts of possibilities!!!
kinda reminds me of some type of anesthesia i had. i have a rare eating disorder (achalasia) so i have had quite a few surgeries. once they injected something into my IV that made me incredibly happy/giggly, but it made me forget everything that happened in the prep for surgery. i didnt like it, it was like i had this blank spot in my memory. all i remember is being pushed through some doors on my bed and then suddenly i wake up. i mean just think about that, say youre walking down the street, and you blink and you wake up in your bed (even though you were awake before).
i know this is different, but i posted it because its still about altering memory.
It’s not the scientific advances that scare me in themselves. If you had some horrible abusive childhood that fucked you up so much you were’nt able to function because of the memories then something like this would be amazing. The fact that inevitably governments will use this sort of technology to torture / suppess people is what scares me. Science is good. Authority is bad.

Sounds like Midazolam… Its one of the newer benzodiazepines, its very similar to Rohypnol (the main date rape drug).
Although the pharmacology and uses/effects are similar..
Midazolam is a shorter acting muscle relaxant/sedative/anxyolitic and AMNESIAC properties…
Ibogaine works by white walling body memory’
If your body can’t remember what it was like to get high then you won’t remember what it felt like so can’t feed the emotion’ of the remebered experience’

that’s your answer to everything
can i read the news or have a conversation without taking ibogaine, please?

Not everyone knows what ‘white walling’ means, I certainly don’t, please explain what you mean when using expressions that are meaning-less without explanation….Also, your body does not get ‘high’ from drugs, the ‘MIND’ does….I should know, and many others do, but not you, or did you mean something else?!…
As for Ibogaine, well the problem with it, is that no scientific research has
been conducted as yet. The words of those that have experienced Ibogaine, is not enough to convince those in power to conduct tests…The same has happened with cannabis, and millions use that.
People have died from Ibogaine, simply because the amount required is different for each individual!…If the person does not take enough, that too can have consequences, as it will not complete the process, leaving the person having ‘partial treatment/therapy/trip’….
Due to the fact that the nerve impulses cross a ‘synapse’ through the action of the neuro-transmitters, when this is interrupted, it causes violent muscular actions, which is what happens with Ibogaine…The neuro-transmitter pathways and receptors in the brain will have been disturbed by ‘foreign chemical’ interference (like a bad bad bad trip!) that can leave the person in a worse state than previously…
If Ibogaine offered all what we hear, then I’m sure it would be on the market, but we only listen to what we ‘want’ to hear…Much more information is needed before the lives of thousands or even millions of people is decided upon the ‘hearsay’ of a few!!!!!!!!

Hey dude you are completely wrong in all of what you say’
Studies have been aned are being don world wide’
We have been doing treatments for nearly five years now’
Don’t know where you get your information from bro’
We have treated many patients and non of them experienced violent muscle contractions, state your source here’
Ibogaine resets brain wave patterning, this rubbish about neuro pathways and receptors disturbed by forieghn chemical interference’ , means exactly what’
Your brain is out of sync whilst under the influence of addictive substances and even after one gets clean the patterning is not as it should be normally’
Iboga resets the two hemispheres of the brain so as to they where befor ethe substances wher usee’
Emotional ettachment through substance abuse is called retardent withdrawl’
Craving’
An imbalance of chemicals in the brain causing anxieties and of cause relapse.
The tewrm white wall means that Iboga can detach ones past emotions from being toucheed in the psychi of now’
The body does not remeber of what is was like to get stoned. The receptors in the brain are reset back to as hey where before one took substances’
Ys people have died on Ibogaine, not edue to dose though, due to stupidity of using substances whilst on Iboga. Ill health due to fixing and blood clots/absesses’. Inhaled their own vomit.
There is no recorded death actually attributed to Ibogaine alone’ It always involved the addition of some other factor’
Hey bro’ where do you get your information from, because it not so of Ibogaine of what you say’
You say it hasn’t been studied’
Take a look.
It has been used and still is used in clinics aroun the world for about the last 12 years’
Certain folks have made it their lifes work’
And as to your comment that is Ibogaine had all of what is said it does it would be on the market’
Oh how nieve you are’
The pharmacutical companies won’t touch it cos it would put them out of business’
Break their monopoly’
Also your comments on dosage are incorrect’
One can gt a lot of psychological healing from a relitvly small dose’
Ibogaine only becomes dose specific for of what job is required of her’
Usually something over 13mg/kg body weight to interupt addiction’
Trancsitional dose of 21mg/kg body weight’
Hearsay of a few, you should do some study bro’
If by hearsay you mean that about 4-9 people world wide are treated daily with Ibogaine’ It has also been found of an enormious use in the treatment of parkinsons desease’
So my friend most of the reason it is not evailable to the world is polotics over money’
Do some research bro’
World wide there are 9 treatment centres and many treatment providers’
10, 467 treatments recorded in less than two and a half years’
That is not a small number my friend at all’
Blessings’
Motamba’
So your comments of bunk information are way wrong bro’
We have extensive knowledge of this plant and many others’
Be well’
If your body can’t remember what it was like to get high then you won’t remember what it felt like so can’t feed the emotion’ of the remebered experience’
Blessings’
Motamba’
are you selling the stuff or somthing?
