brilliant party, what ruined it for me(whitch is totallly expected at a scumoween) is when the gangs came in and blind robbing ppl, ruined it. I went home. still a brilliant party, and i think the scene will go thro these fluctuations every 10 years. Till next time scum!

had a nasty feeling this would happen at some point because the feds stopped the usual security procedures, though you are the first person to discuss this. Fair play to you for doing so, its like the childrens tale of the Emperors New Clothes..
might seem like now like distant past but there was a time when it was possible to attend London parties without having to be so careful about being robbed…

That video is pretty lush. Im worried that ravers and police will now both have a point to prove at the next big party. The ravers because they got away with it last time and the police because they have damaged ego’s. I think something will have to give and i can see alot of people getting hurt from both sides :/

Don’t think it will get that bad TBH and most of these “riots” are no worse than what can happen even in townie places with a pissed up crowd! They get more publicity because of the issues regarding lack of licensing and disregard of private property rights.

England in recent times has never been as bad for civil disturbances compared to many other countries. The authorities try to avoid really bad violence (compared to European nations where people on both sides do often get badly hurt and killed in rioting more regularly and firearms/IED’s are used)

I don’t think the senior cops will want to risk violence/bad publicity (which is why they told TSG to retreat) but they might well target organisers and any party drugs dealers a lot harder. This is what the last Tory govt did in the 1990s and was effective for a few years until Blair got in..

Im not sure really when i see groups on facebook such as “the night the ravers won” etc it does worry me. I think alot of old bill will have very damaged egos maybe there wont be big riots. But the police will be defiently going out of there way to make it awkard for ravers much like you said. Will be intresting to see what happens at stricy skum dancing.

it should worry those posting more as metpol can get any info they want off facebook…

the cops might even let events go ahead, then visit people midweek for various reasons – this has also happened before.. another thing they do is pass the details of organisers on to building owners so the building owners can launch a civil court case for damages. This happened to a chap I know and they are chasing him still for a £40 000 debt..

I think you are right the bigger and more mainstream the party’s become the more the police will crack down. Plus the greater the risk of nasty gangs getting involved again for profit.

or there’s always the possibility the police will not clamp down and use it as more evidence of how the spending cuts are effecting them (and how they need more money). No idea though, not enough information.

You can get away with big parties in london easy .. you just have to find a building out of the way .. there are thousands of empty buildings in london.

it would seem you may be wrong there. just seen a message about a psy party that has just been raided and shut down. police inside and outside the building possibly searching people. not good. i really really hope this is not in direct response to what happened at scum. i can see it though. will be fucking shit if that one party in a bait location has meant that the police are now on it to send out the message of you aint having a party anywhere.

hopefully this party was just an exception tho…. :hopeless:

whaaaaaat no waaaay. where was it? no party for you tonight then my friend :hopeless:

It is true what daft said tho, but maybe not anymore. All the Scumteks went off without a hitch and they were out of the way. The last scumtek i went to, number 4 i think, even had rigs outside the warehouse aswell as in.

Yep someone i know commented on this as well… that you’d feel people brushing past you and they’d be patting down your pockets to see what u had….. As Alex said unfortunately the feds being there meant the door got busted off it’s hinges and the usual security wasn’t able to do it’s job…

yep thats the one. be interesting to see what happenes the next few weeks.. fingers crossed this is just either a one off warning or something totally unrelated that brought it on top for that crew or location..

they did post the address blatently on facebook so maybe it just means its gonna be dealt with same as free parties and the organisers will just have to go back to being more carefull how they give out the information. also thought that maybe they will start to sieze kit from parties at the end if they cant shut it down early in efforts to clampdown. really hope not and sure its just a flash in the pan…

last psy party i went to got shut down (well the police turned up and the organisers shut it down)… the building had been used many weekends on the trot and was about a 30 sec walk from a mainish road and in a building where sound could easly get out …

I’ve been to partys where they have only used the basement and you could stand outside with your ear to the wall and not hear a thing! …

TBH its been in the pipeline for some years, and metpol have been stepping up action against parties for a couple of years, not major busts but stopping events and making them relocate like SE England in 2004.

it wasn’t just scumtek but other stuff like the posh hipsters cracking buildings and then the gangs beating shit out of them, ironically I saw this on a local metpol website as the cops had actually treated it as a crime and were looking for the gangs involved.. but the met and the NHS would rather things like this just didn’t happen or if they did license costs were paid..

for over a year (in fact since G20 protests) metpol have working with cops in bumpkin land to learn how to deal with protests/parties without looking too much like knuckle draggers and the wrong people getting hurt – I’ve had this confirmed by a raver mate of mine, a traveller (who saw a large convoy of every force in the East + metpol going to South Essex for “training”) and official Police sources – the cops did even openly speak to the Press about what they were all doing..

that said its still possible even in the harshest zero tolerance areas to have parties with permission to use places and what don’t annoy the neighbours..

problem with basements of many London buildings is Old Father Thames squats them as well, and he sometimes tends to absent-mindedly leave the taps on :laugh_at:
