i agree. there was only 7 arrests, if the police wanted too there could have been countless more considering what did actually happen. there was alot of stuff being thrown at them, the van being tipped AND a group of piggies got rushed at the main entrance

later reports say 8 arrests, presumably there was someone nicked later on in the day for some reason…

    @josh – yes, its a good word :laugh_at:

in a high crime area like London where they are dealing with serious gang activity, racial tension and all sorts its actually pointless and counterproductive these days feds just confiscating a rig as some crews will only sell fuckloads more drugs to replace it as has been proven in areas outside London. This of course creates more addictions and stuff for the NHS to deal with and in some cases more crime….

in some cases it makes more sense to just bust the drug dealers and that would mean building up a larger body of evidence over a number of raves. think how relatively easy it was to get the deep cover cop in amongst them yoghurt weavers who are actually a lot more close knit a community (and more paranoid!) than ravers – and to get evidence of dealing at raves all it takes is a few young CID to get photos, videos etc or to monitor squats, vehicle movements etc.

one result of the 2006 megariot is a fair few dealers got sent down..

that said in 2007 when raves picked up again in EA despite the “megariot”, Suffolk cops set up a taskforce using the same lot what dealt with the prostitute murders to deal with the issues regarding raves (they considered the two linked as at least two of the girls got into class A drugs through club/party drugs)

They let about 5 raves go off relatively unmolested (despite some skirmishes and a Police car being trashed) they then totally rinsed one at the peak of the summer 2007 season. (100 cops, 3 forces!) This was the one where two lads from the local crew got sent to prison….

in 2008/9 a lot of bits of info relating to this time got released on freedom of information – it seems like the feds deliberaly held it back so it couldn’t have been used in the defence of the Court case – but basically it all said they had been watching the raves for ages and sitting down with the lawyers from both CPS and the County Council Legal Department to work out when to strike and how to gather evidence to get the hardest penalties such as being able to confiscate rigs and charge the organisers. Even some of the cops involved in the anti-rave ops openly said they were shocked at the decision to hear the eventual case in Crown Court (rather than Magistrates) and the harsh penalties handed down (prison sentences to people who had never been done for violent crime before)

All in all I had an amazing night, had been looking forward to this for months. I do however feel completely ashamed of people who were riotting and causing trouble. Its not what free parties are about, its not big and its not clever. That being said – the music and rigs smashed it, the location surreal and a bit too blatant but worked really well, the balloons were amazing and the booze was nice and cheap which was handy cos I ran out at about 8am. Thankyou ScumTek – it wasnt my first and it wont be my last….hopefully

Why should people stop doing these events just because a minority dont know their limits and get absolutely twatted?!?! These arnt the consequences of parties they are the consequences of idiots.

    why????
the more damage that was done to police the quicker they’ll let us into the party.
+maybe they’ll think twice about shutting down a party again
i didnt do it to be big or clever i just wanted to party.

I can understand why a 16 year old lad who has spent days looking forward to this rave and a fair bit of cash/time on transport etc would get angry enough to take on the cops – and people (both young and older) thought the same round my way… but the eventual result was two of my mates (who have never done violent crime in their lives) went to prison, and they lost fuckloads of sound equipment..they’ve tried be brave about it but I can tell its damaged them emotionally, particularly the younger of the two who went to YOI.

All that then happens is the authorities spend our tax money on more cops and surveillance not just to stop parties but to stop people getting their party drugs as well, and quite often they “win” – at least to the extent that the only drugs you can find easily are bad shit like heroin and crack because only them dealers will take the risks. its like that now in my town and in a lot of East Anglia and we used to have one of the best party scenes in England.

the real reason you can’t find any raves “back home” is because your parents/my generation did stupid things like trying to fight the Police so they could have raves – either by riots or by being blatant about selling and living off drugs.

And now the government are all my age and some of them used to rave but got scared off by seeing their mates fuck up on drugs etc.

Try and learn from our generations mistakes if you want parties to continue..

how old are you, 15? hope u get a 3am wake-up call from old bill idiots like u ruin it for people with brain cells.

In December 2006 when the prositutes got murdered in my town, Merseyside lent 10 CCTV cars (and cops to drive and operate them) to Suffolk.

I joked with some of my friends who are from Liverpool and the North about this, saying “surely everything in Liverpool what isn’t nailed down is getting robbed, now all your cops and surveillance kit is down here?

they said “nah, the cops still have loads left over, they’ve got at least 30 of these surveillance vehicles” (I also saw cops saying the same on Traffic Wars and other similar crime shows)..

Apparently this all dates back from the 1980s and 1990s when people in Liverpool had riots and all sorts and crime families basically ran some estates and no one bothered for shit with things like driving licenses, MOT etc (or even owning their own cars)

OK again I know thats verging on comedy stereotypes, not all of Merseyside is like that and the same shit happens in London or Essex and the North got fucked over by Thatcho but just living by crime/dealing/scally behaviour ain’t sustainable, and all the money for them cars could have been spent on young georges education and leisure instead – but when you keep trying to overtly “fight the power” they just fight back harder and smarter…

banging party – cannot say moer. anyone get any good pictures or vids?

It’s boys like you that gives these parties a bad name and more reason for the bill to stop them in the future.

    Stay in Liverpool!!!!!

Some black dude called Lewis riding a scooter who works for the Press Association certainly did (I’ll give the man his due, they are good pics!)

Same what they are being used for – not his fault though, he is a citizen as well as a journalist and has as much right as anyone else to take pictures..

well, not really wish that, but still.

Here are some politically incorrect first-hand accounts from officers deployed at the infamous rave in London over the weekend. You won’t see this anywhere else. The comments will be interesting too!

    From ‘Areatracenosearch’

I spent the whole night kitted up getting bottles, bricks, cans, alcohol and broken glass thrown over me in varying quantities.

We DIDN’t storm the address – more of them than us in a dark building, small corridors, unknown quantities… for relatively minor offences.

Like MCM I wasn’t dismissed till way, way past my shift finish time. I was part of one of the only PSUs working directly with the TSG and was at the scene (not, sadly, kept in reserve) till dismissal.

Apart from a quick visit to teapot 1 of course.

I have read numerous news reports and they are all variations on a theme, but the Daily Mail one really boiled my piss. Saying we were terrified and couldn’t be bothered. I saw a friend injured, I was abused and had objects thrown at me and my carrier, and we didn’t shirk. I don’t like them accusing me of cowardice. It’s just pure bollocks.

I seriously wonder why I keep up with my f******g level 2 ticket at times. No benefit for us PCs either in this O/T strapped brave new world.

I know this is pure ranting on my behalf, but I’m proud of the way our guys and gals behaved, I’m especially proud of my carrier for keeping ‘up’ throughout, and I’m even proud of myself. Bollocks to those who spent the night in the warm in bed then dare to question whether we were too strong/too weak in our actions.

    From ‘Metcountymounty’

Jesus Christ my feet and back are killing me, been in full kit since it went bandy. Van got battered on the way in and now on the wrong end of a double shift, Force mobilisation for L2′s and L1′s, hope the guys in hospital aren’t too bad. The place looked like a proper battle zone when we took over. Just been relieved after 5 hours now on standby for God knows how long. From the people coming out I actually think the top brass made the right decision to not clear the warehouse and let it continue – 4,000 people over 5 floors it would have been a bloodbath as they would absolutely fight for it. Not good for the papers but the clearance would have been interesting though.

And then later from the same reader:

Finally got dismissed at 0800 so 23 hours on duty, couple of hours kip on the office floor and we’re all mullered. Halloween is busier than new year now and even as we were getting kitted up last night it went mental. I actually feel hung over from no food/drink from 1800 yesterday and head is killing me, the van we went up in has some nice gouges out of the roof. Christ knows what hit us but we had bricks bottles and glass when we went back. The bar has been set now – if we don’t get a heads up there is no way a response team could take on a couple of hundred determined people getting into a squat like that. I feel sorry for the EK officers who were first on scene, a suspects on premises turned into a full blown clusterf**k with urgent assistance and Commissioner’s Reserve being beaten back. Even with force mobilisation we would have had a problem clearing it, it would have been brilliant but messy, and no good news would come out of it. Back to the days of mass raves now, they’ve tried and won, and we’re now screwed.

Gadget Note: Level II MAST officers (What the media call Riot police) are volunteers from the uniformed departments in a police force. There is no extra money for this deployment. Most forces have a full time Level II trained unit, but membership is voluntary. An officer can withdraw his or her ‘ticket’ at any time.
