A Swedish author who has written two books on the Palme killing said Mrs Rausing first contacted him in June 2011. She claimed she had learned that Palme had been killed by an entrepreneur who feared the politician was a threat to his business.
I remember this murder happening when I was a teenager, although that era was blighted across Europe by political violence especially in UK and FR, (terrorist bombs, strikes, assasinations and all sorts) this was viewed as unusual as Sweden is viewed as a relatively peaceful country
UK cops are also assisting with the investigation. One significant point is the Rausing family took their significant capital out of Sweden to England to escape high taxes, and thus would have had friends more towards the centre right of politics. The main Rausing bloke (the addict couples dad) was very hostile to the “socialist” politics of Sweden (which aren’t all that left wing, though they do give good public services)
Most folk are aware extremists will not stop short of political assasination, but if a “normal business person” is prepared to murder a democratically elected of a European country that is serious stuff (it confirms my suspcions that there has been simmering civil warfare across Europe for the last 30 years).

“Don’t forget to investigate if I should suddenly die! Just joking, I hope.”
ehhh…this assassination of Palme is still an open wound deep down in the core of the swedish soul. I hope they will get some more clues out of this and not just another dead-end. They(the swedes) do not deserve that.
I was very young when this happened and only just getting into politics but this asssasination was clearly a loss to Europe as a whole – this guy is clearly one of the forefathers of modern social democracy in Europe and inspired other centre left leaders of the era. Unfortunately because he was outspoken and not afraid to make enemies (criticising both the powerful business lobby not just in his own nation but the USA as well as the Soviet) this makes it a really difficult case to solve.
A lot of things which happened in the UK during the late 90s were inspired by Scandinavia and other North European nations – but we fucked up is it was too little, too late and not enough attention paid to things like the environment and limiting energy use and not sucking up to America for business reasons – thus forcing the UK into a oil/resource war alongside the Americans.
