I wonder how many constabularies are viewing this thread with an eagle eye and a chesire cat grin while gleefully rubbing their hands at the chance of catching us ‘illegal’ rebels when we say something that may incite ourselves as being part of the illegal rave community, that all of us at Party Vibe so rightfully abhor with a passion fearsome enough to wake THE DEMONS OF HELLFIRE AND INCESTRY. it is far simpler for cops to just catch people either at or outside events either using or dealing drugs, or committing traffic offences, or deal with a rave when it happens or just before it happens rather than carry out elaborate surveillance on planned ones.

in this country gathering somewhere isn’t illegal until they the people gathered in the location have done something to piss off a local (such as holding a rave) and that person dials 999 and makes a formal complaint. the only reason there has been lockdown in some areas is because they were given a chance and repeatedly took the fucking piss big time.

I don’t know the North well enough but it seems like Sheffield is doing well but people shouldn’t be complacement, they should learn from mistakes what were made down south rather than trying to repeat them.

i thought gathering somewhere could be deemed illegal straight off? revised CJA or something, whatever laws

all i know is they started splitting up groups in our area under some shit saying we’d be arrested if we didnt split into twos and go off in different directions

this sounds like a youth dispersal order, and even then the cops can’t just impose one without sufficient evidence of actual incidents making it necessary (it would mean that locals have actually made statements to cops saying they have been “distressed or alarmed” by youths’ behaviour)

there’s meant to be a new flyering tax brought in if you want to flyer and poster events publicly, something that could potentially cripple independent music events.

I can half see why they’re trying to do something like this. huge nightclubs handing out 1000’s of flyers, most of which end up in the bin or on the floor isn’t good for anyone, however if you dont have this flyering licence thingy and are caught handing out flyers in a public place you get whacked with a fine, neither of which most independent promoters can afford.

I swear as som1 said due to to the revised cja anything over sumin like 20 people is classed as *cant remember the name of what its classd as* sumin or another and thhe police have the power to dispurce them not just young lads outside shops either.?.

they can do if the cops class it as a rave. But to do this, someone from the local area has to have called the cops in the first place to complain. exactly the same applies for the youths.

The police only have this power when another citizen (obviously not part of the rave) has called them to say they have been alarmed or distressed by what is going on. With the amount of real violent crime in the country, the cops don’t actually have the resources to mount elaborate surveillance operations on a rave what may or may not actually happen. Even the “rave intelligence units” of East Anglia are simply the same coppers what always patrol market towns in that region to keep an eye on gary boys, drink drivers, pissheads causing trouble etc…

You might want to have a look at the Curfew & Spoof pages on Facebook – I’m sure there’ll be lot of folk on there happy to reminiss about the Shef free party scene in the 90s
