  • Wow, I’m shocked at the level of hostility I’ve received. And as Pat McDonald said, why the Ad hominem attacks? It would be OK if you just disagreed with me, but you’re all so stupid you haven’t even understood my argument to begin with.

Yep I completely agree. TBH i see no positive outcome of just giving out free crack in an attempt to get the users off it whatsoever.

@Smackchimp, do you really think this is a system that would work?

Can’t any of you read? You are deliberately misinterpreting my argument. I’m not saying we should give addicts drugs to get them off drugs. I’m saying we should give addicts drugs to stop them stealing things. It’s almost impossible to get people off crack.

why the hell should the state, or its people pay for you to live out the rest of your days getting high and giving nothing back in return?!

Because if we don’t pay for it they will steal for it. They will use violence, mug people, break into homes etc. More importantly we already pay for it with prisons and rehab centers. It is more cost affective to prescribe crack/coke than to have people stealing.

Not all people that use crack are addicts and as you stated not all users/addicts display antisocial behaviour, so why should I pay for this group of users to receive free drugs when they weren’t previously costing me anything?

Why do we inoculate all children against disease when only some are at risk of infection? Why wear a seat belt when you probably wont crash? Every crack/coke addict has to have access to drugs as a precaution. After all they don’t start as addicts.

Go on, call me a troll. Maybe you can burn me as a witch as well 🙂

OK troll, there you go said it. Now bugger off and go shoplifting to pay for your addictions because you aint getting any free crack here buddy.

There are prescription programmes at rehab in the UK and many other nations. What you are never going to get is taxpayers or anyone else allowing someone to feed an addiction, whether or not they commit crime to get their drugs. Most crime/shoplifting in my town is done by alcoholics rather than hard drug addicts but alcohol is legal.

If someone is addicted to drugs then they are ill, and the healthcare providers rôle is to get them better, by encouraging them first to take a smaller dose of drugs and then abstain altogether.

This is why in modern European nations drugs are controlled in the first place (Im referring to 1960s/1970s era legislation following the setting up of public healthcare in most of Europe, not the conspiracy theories of previous centuries).

A long term solution would be to tolerate the limited use of less harmful recreational drugs as street heroin and crack only exist due to prohibition, but the production of these drugs has impacts on foreign countries so there is not global consensus about drugs laws. Especially Asian folk still remember the use of opiates and even cannabis as a distraction technique to pacify their natives and colonise their countries.

Back in Europe there are two important reasons why this idealistic plan will not be accepted : people who work and pay taxes will think they are being blackmailed by criminals (folk emigrate from NL and DK to the UK because of this), and in any case it goes directly against the basic principles of human healthcare which say “do no harm”. The only place you will ever see folk getting a endless supply of class A is the old peoples home where they are going to die anyway.

This isn’t the young Conservatives club you’ve stumbled on, many folk on here have struggled with addiction and and even some Tories nowadays have more pragmatic views about treating addicts (my local MP is a real doctor and has done this). There is also a very good rehab centre being set up here especially to stop young women getting into sex work due to addiction (because 5 were killed this way) and other programmes to stop young men getting into a spiral of addiction, crime and gang activity.

Yeah.. they can have free crack. Asscrack.

    We’ll said

safa you’re back!! I fucking missed you man!!!!!!!
