American liberalism is a warped extreme misinterpretation of some European ideas which fell out of favour in the 18th century.
Coincidentally I heard on the Dutch pirates in Drenthe this country and western song about a Dutchman who goes to Ohio to seek a new life; but instead gets in a fight over a Mexican girl and decides to deal with this by putting a few rounds of 9mm para into his love rival. (probably why he won the gunfight; his opponent probably had a bigger calibre weapon but it misfired/jammed)
