I have to own up and say I find the smart phone I have addictive and sometimes a concerted effort is required to leave it turned off. Fortunately it can be programmed to turn itself off and on automatically so I make use of that function.
Its such an excellent gadget though – mobile access to websites can be an excellent way to kill waiting times. How many of you use a mobile to access social networking sites?
:bounce_fl
I merely use mine as a phone(nokia x3-o2) and a music player(wi-fi and fm radio + 16gb music library), I am not at any social networks and I do not like the set up of the mobile browsers. So I keep it as a phone, mine is small and fit in a shirt pocket. I got a good gps for finding my way, proper gps’s is so much better than a mobile-phone gps ever will be.
I’ve only just got one today 🙂
so I’ll let you know in a week or two!! lol!!
Got an Iphone. It annoys me greatly but I love it also. I broke the screen on it though, tried to play cowboys when I was pissed and pulled it from my pocket as one does a gun and it flew from my hand and fell onto the cold dusty floor, all for a drunken show. There it lay, broken in two, there I was, aghast. Now it will cost me 36 pounds to repair and I wonder how long did this phone last? but all is not lost. I can still use it so it is not all bad. Am I now pissed again, yes I am. Do I care, I couldn’t give a toss. until the morn, then I will care, when my head doth pound. I will again be, Aghast.
I think there great, hav’nt a clue what most of the things on it are for but for utube google, downloads, music, google maps, flicker, facebook and they can email timesheets and other documents to me and an 8.1mp camera/video player a radio and loads of stuff that i dont know what to with.Imagine what they’ll be like in 10 years
My so-called ‘smart’ phone seems to be a a few sandwiches short of a picnic. It disables the wake-up alarm by itself during the night before it’s due to wake me up, and plays reggae sporadically when I’m walking down the street.
I don’t have one … but every one I know who does complains through there arse about it. It’s doing this/not doing that .. bla bla bla …..
I have a nokia “insert 4 digits here” from way back when and it works perfectly as a phone … that’s all i want from a phone … is to call someone and recive calls …
If I want to surf the net/playgame/date/hyave my non existant hair cut/ clean my shoes …. I’ll go some where that specialises in this …. it will be alot better then going to a gardener who sais he can cut hair too … or going to the guiness world record holder of “the most spit ever spat in one go” for a shoe shine!
I got issued a blackberry for work – its not bad for checking up on stuff like emails (though I normally tend to reply on a proper computer as the keyboard is a bit small).
its also useful for checking the weather and the GPS (got a openstreetmap app for this) as a cyclist, and my “proper” GPS just outputs grid refs and a very basic map without streets. (of course I do not look at it when riding!) I sometimes listen to music on it but again not when on my bike as I nearly rode into a big hole Anglian water had dug when distracted by music a few years ago.
the browser can be useful as I was round my hippy friends house and they were gathering all these plants/herbs and wanted to know metric conversions as all their recipe books were in imperial. its also useful for gathering quick snippets on info provided the distant site is programmed to deal with the smaller screen.
I don’t use social networks though so wouldn’t say I’m addicted to it..
ok…forgot I love the turn off button…being online all the time even just for text/calls is not good I think.
Of course smartphones are great. They allow to stay in tpuch and afford new posibilities of multimedia and communication.
Communication – this is what makes us addicted

I try and stear clear of listening to music or using handfree (with headphones) on phones as aparently it amplifies the radiation that the phone outputs/or channles it into your ears or something. O.o

I am most certainly not impressed with the battery power, it only lasts a day!!
my old phone would go atleast 3 days!
is there anything I am doing or not doing that would solve this?
