Dunno but my science teacher at school did a bit of DJ’ing at the weekends and often had that look that is all to familiar of a come-down :laugh_at:

dont need a phd in anything to realise a dog will sniff out a dodgy bag of drugs buddy
just a little common sense !!!!! (cough! cough!)
im sure if they can detect cancer from your breath surely they can smell drugs in your pocket ?????
but hey if you think im talking crap why not put the theory to the test ????????????? why not go to a party yourself where theres drug dogs and check out this little theory yourself then report the conclusions back here for us all to read

yep he had a phd in biology so how does that make him a authority on sniffer dogs ???

myself if i knew there was gonna be the chance of getting busted by a dog goin into a party i would ……

1 take the drugs outside away from the dogs

2 not bother taking drugs with me

3 not bother going at all

4 stupidly try to sneak them past said dogs probably getting a drugs record in the process !!!!!!!!! hhhmmmmm !!!!!!!

as a ex pill dealer i will tell you this ive pulled every scam going to get drugs past the door … if i knew there was gonna be dogs about i wouldnt even dream of taking the chance .

once you have a drugs record its gonna stay with you forever .i found out the hard way

these dogs can detect weed even if you have just been near a lit joint so carrying drugs into a party where they are is a bit risky to say the least .
if you want a drugs record ,lose your ticket money, and spend a while in the cells, then fire away take your pills etc etc to the party

but before you do just ask yourself is my night out worth all of the above ????

Did he not say that said teacher did his phd on investigating ways to detect drugs through masking substances?

Strikes me he probably would have checked to see if sniffer dogs was a way to do it…. Shouldn’t have got his phd otherwise….

If you’re qualified by experience, does that mean you’ve been busted by a sniffer dog once for every possible combination of things you could use to mask the smell of drugs about your person? (if so, how did you get out of jail after about the 20th substance to test the next one?)

That’s the kind of research someone doing a phd into the subject would do after all (using I would assume a watertight methodology – also necessary to gain a phd).

You’ll need to do a bit better than “because I’ve been a dealer” as an argument (I’ve had dealers try and convince me of all sorts of nonsense that they were QBE for, and knew all about – like “LSD-25 and acid are totally different things”, “E and ketamine are the same thing” etc etc…:you_crazy)

Dogs have extremely sensitive noses, but nothing is foolproof… Not a reason to chance it if you know you’re going to encounter one – and much easier to use the weak link – ie make them undetectable to the handler…. Still worth having distracting smells on you though (because no matter how well trained, a dog is still a dog beneath all the training, and can be incited to riot if you know how….:wink:)

Arcadian, do you have any more information about that phd thesis. I’d be well interested in reading it, like do you have your teachers name etc.

When I went to Amsterdam when I was 18 I brought an 8th back with me and just had it in a baggy sprayed with a bit of aftershave in my pocket.. and a sniffer dog came round us all in Liverpool Airport when we landed and it didnt even bother sniffing me. I reckon there more of a scare tactic in general…
