Hello friends,
I’ve been having ZERO luck meeting other ravers in my area, and even less (believe it or not) in finding raves on my own. I love meeting new people and have no problem going by myself, but I cant even find out where to start looking. Can anyone help a friend in need?
Interesting and unusual idea
I just realized that the Americas sideways look like a duck. – Imgur sideways America looks like Duck. Just don’t let any nations for a passion for plum sauce discover this lol

Where abouts are you located ?
walla walla lol take it you like that song by the offspring then? :p
Im in eastern Washington state, U.S. I’m putting myself through college, so traveling isnt really an option. Walla Walla doesn’t have much of a night life from what I’ve seen. Unless your into getting drunk and having bar fights, lol. I’m really new to the rave scene, how do you even meet others who could help me find places to go? Hell, I’d just like to find some friends who share an appreciation for the culture at this point, everyone I know now pretty much just ignores the subject or outright scorns me for it.
Hmm welcome to a lifestyle frowned upon by society, I was going to say do any of your pals know much about raving/partying, but as you’ve said, they ignore or scorn you. That’s bloody ignorant of your friends frankly, closed minded bunch I take it? There are a lot of other peeps from the states on here, but where they are is another question. If your willing to cancel your day as its only early afternoon where you are, have a good look through the forum categories, there might be some useful bits in there for you. Sorry I’m not much use to you, I’m in the UK and not much of a party goer, more of a stay in and drink tea (so cliche I know) kinda guy lol
I’m assuming like the UK, raving in the states in pretty damn sketchy, so parties aren’t advertised blatantly, as your nation has much harsher laws than here.
I honestly don’t know what to suggest….sorry
Ps, love the avatar, Nicola Telsla was a god!

Thanks man, Im well use to being frowend upon by mainstream society, as I’ve been a Brony for some time now, lol. I just keep trotting down the rabbit hole, so to speak. Honestly its a big relief just to talk with folks about it. People arnt as harsh as it might sound, but they just have no interest in learning about stuff they dont understand so it can feel lonely at times. Like you said, close minded. I wont give up though, and there is nothing wrong with loving a quiet afternoon enjoying a cup of tea, I love a good earl grey whenever I can. So, cultural question, How do you lot over there see us? Whats the american stereotype from your POV?
hmm good question that, I’ve met a lot of people in my 26 years of being and I’ve come across many people from the states. I would honestly have to say its 50/50. I’ve met americans who are total anglophiles and have basically become British! A close family friend, whom passed away a few years ago came over from Texas to live in a tiny little village not to far from where I currently live, after selling his business. he became a Brit in no time, where as his wife wanted the opposite!
Then on the other hand I’ve met your cliche, god fearing, gun totting pig americans, whom are always ready to start a fight for no good reason other than they have been subjected nationalist brainwashing, ie ‘we are the best etc’ these types, to be fair I encountered on holiday in the Dominican and not one person at the hotel would serve them drinks or food, due to there disgusting language and way they would call the staff ‘boy’ and other hurtful things. This to me, at the time was one of the most shocking things I’d ever witnessed, and 20 something year old college ‘kid’ calling a middle aged Dominican man ‘boy’…..From the accent of the kid I’d say he was Midwestern, had a look of the land in him.
My perceptions of Americans are solely based on my own meetings with your fellow countrymen/women, so I can’t really say if I like or dislike them, I do dislike the government, I believe Obama to be nothing more than a gimmick for the public. But many people believe that also. I can say however, that of the many people I’ve meet in my life, some of the best, kindest and loveliest have been from the america’s, ie Canada, USA, Mexico etc.
A friend and I are planning a WWII world trip at some point and we want to do the states, I for one would like to avoid the lower states as neither of us are christian or religious for that matter and I’ve heard and read stories of unbelievable things done to people all because they don’t follow an organized religion. Which is one of my main factors of being untrusting of Americans (sorry!), I just can’t trust some one who blindly believes a man gave birth to himself, died came back to life walked on water (ok that’s been scientifically proven possible) and then allowed himself to be killed again.
The issue with guns is one that I know divides the country, and I for one only agree with gun ownership if you live in states like Montana, texas, in other words the massive empty ones where you can go hunting. That is what a gun is for, to allow you to feed yourself, not to take another man/womans life over some pathetic dispute. But obviously crime is a hell of a load more prolific and worse over there than it is here, in which we only banned the ownership and possession of handguns/automatic guns in the 1970’s!
But the Isle of Mann is the only place ‘inside’ the UK where you can LEGALLY own and carry a side arm. And there are no speed limits there out side of built up areas , hence why they have the world famous Manx TT.
This has been a bit of a ramble, if you’ve read this far I doff my non-existant hat to you, as its 2:38am here and I’m bloody knackered!
Hope to speak again, and remember don’t be a stranger here, join in and you’ll get more than you’d originally came for!
peace, love and good vibes bro!
Good stuff Gylfi, see you around.
To any other friends out there browsing, how would you suggest going about meeting other ravers? Just wear glow sticks and bright clothes around campus until someone asks?
To us in Europe the US rave scene comes across as a rather bizzare mix of commercial events in the 1990s and mainstream US youth culture; although its experiencing a boom that is really only because some areas of the USA have suffered badly from the economic depression and therefore rent out public buildings for lower prices and don’t enforce the health and safety regulations of Europe as much, making big events more profitable.
The proper European rave scene is a lot more underground, as drugs are just as illegal here as in the USA and people who might take them still get judged. The whole scene and to a certain extent all pop music that isn’t originated from singing at church was funded by laundered drugs money during its heyday. Its a lot cleaner now but still has the negative association with drugs.
What are you studying at college? You might be better off hanging around where engineering / computer students are rather than obvious trendy/hipster types; it is often they are often more into EDM but they don’t dress in a stereotypical way and don’t brag about it; especially in what appears to be a very sparsely populated area but with a very big prison for its size. However if you are studying these subjects, a lot of students (because they are intelligent) are wary of admitting to liking anything out of the ordinary, as they know how powerful surveillance is and that it makes getting jobs difficult.
I looked up your area and apparently 20% of people there are Germans. Unfortunately they may well be the type of German who works had, goes to church and left DE because they disliked paying taxes for anyone who didn’t follow their lifestyle, but perhaps amongst the younger generation there may be a few who like EDM.
I know theres a very large German population in parts of Texas as well.
The northwest is defiantly mostly of northern European descent, I’m working on a Wind turbine tech degree. But the majority of the guys I’m working with are sports bar kinda people. I guess all I can really hope for is ill run into someone someday. The number one problem I’ve seen is it seems like people just aren’t open to each other, people just have their friends and their life and don’t really want to step outside that circle. I could be totally wrong, but that’s how if feels being someone who is striving to expand.
Indoctrination is the issue here my friend, people are taught from a very young age the police and government are the good guys, but as we all know, they’re the biggest crooks off all. The best way to open there minds is with a little bit of acid lol that stuff can stop wars and end political strife no doubt. As for sports bar people, I assume your referring to meat-heads who’ve taken one too many blow to the skull from bar fights and/or extreme alcohol abuse to even be able to think cognitively and clearly enough to know whats happening? ahaha if so, I know exactly what you mean lol
You’ll come across like minded people for sure, but the chances are you’ll have to travel to Portland and the surrounding area, as from what little I know of the States it’s where all the ‘weirdos’ and hippy types are, so they’ll be the closest source of party information and parties themselves. If my brain will work properly (slim chance), Washington borders Oregon does it not? you’ve got a great location for partying and getting really really high lol I’m relatively envious of that situation, I must say.
