  • Theres an app called ‘bandsintown’ which is good. It syncs to your phones and makes a list of all the artists you listen to, and artists you might like to listen to. Then it lets you see when those artists are playing near you.

So if you want glow sticks and lots of neon then find out about DJs who produce house and trance. Your nearest big city should have parties where they play.

Also music festivals are great for raving, and its cery easy to meet people and create social circles.

And respect to a brony from a fellow pegisister 😉

The northwest is defiantly mostly of northern European descent, I’m working on a Wind turbine tech degree. But the majority of the guys I’m working with are sports bar kinda people. I guess all I can really hope for is ill run into someone someday. The number one problem I’ve seen is it seems like people just aren’t open to each other, people just have their friends and their life and don’t really want to step outside that circle. I could be totally wrong, but that’s how if feels being someone who is striving to expand.

that is exactly how the region of England I currently live in is. They do eventually accept newcomers but it takes a while, and the farmland is used for actual farming so it is impossible to have raves on it without getting in a great deal of trouble. The big problem for Americans is that the country / regions are so fucking big, and even if you do have a motor car and driving license, petrol (gasoline) is still not cheap, and cops get suspcious about young people driving long distances.

Some of the new genres like nightcore are linked to this concept of younger people having raves and radio stations in some virtual reality computer game. I don’t understand it 100% myself but it seems popular enough and I can see why youngsters do this.

yeahhhh, Portland keeps coming up in my quest for good people and crazy beats, but i would need at least on contact out there and a couple free days. which are rather difficult to come by. Lol, Its great cuz whenever I hear the term Weirdos anymore I immediately think, “those are my kind of people.”

If any of you come across someone from the Portland area on here, try asking them to contact me, it’d be much appreciated.

Huzzah! This thread is now 20% Cooler. (couldn’t help myself :p )

there is this old hippy in Colorado (which unfortunately I think is 500km away) and his site often has links to events. Although many are aimed at those just older than me (age 50-70) there are some EDM events mentioned on his site. He published stuff about the European rave scene in 1994 and his zine/bookshop is still going (curiously where he lives is called Nederland, so that might be where the Dutch emigrants went to…)

Bloody fantastic phone, the battery will go for about 1-2 weeks without a charge if you ONLY use it for calls/texts……and it has a slidey thing :weee: which is the main selling point for me hahaha

Hey, I used to go free parties every weekend but haven’t been for a few years now so I’ve lost all my contacts. I know the Itsy bitsy crew, Kevin, Gemma & Dannimal. Heheh. Check out some of my pics in Facebook – James Unna. I’m the only one so should be easy to find. Anyway, point of this msg is to ask that someone txt me some time if they are at a fat freeparty in the south some time. 07541 942245. Ta.
Ps. Based in Southampton but will travel – Brighton, London, Oxford, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bristol etc.

I’d seriously reconsider posting your phone number on the internet like that, anyone can read that, you never know who’s gonna phone you, could be someone with bad intentions.

Hey, sorry I can’t help here but I was wondering if you could help me out… I ‘m writing a paper about EDM and how it may pertain to transcendental expereicnes… I you want, please help me out, I’d really appreciate it… the following are just some interview questions I came up with, you don’t have to answer all of them but the more you can would be great… Thanks

In regards to these questions, note, the word transcendence doesn’t have to be applied to religion; much like the word spirituality, the word transcendence has moved away from having accordance with religious ideals; since the modern era, the word is often more in accordance with any kind of subjective experience and psychological growth. However, it is also applicable to religion and please feel free to answer these questions with that basis.

    1. When you go or if you go to an EDM venue (rave, concert, party) what do you hope to get out of the experience?
    2. What is your religious upbringing and what is your view on religion now?
    3. Do you think you experience any form of a connection to your spirituality when at a rave or any venue playing Electronic Dance Music, if yes then please go into detail?
    4. Can you please list and maybe describe some of the venues you have been to? Maybe with just some words and an explanation behind those words (i.e: Ruby Skye nightclub-“Good Vibe-” everyone was thrilled to hear Wolfgang Gartner play and participated in the ecstasy of emotions by jumping to the music)

    Thank you for your time
