a mixture of both; there were 5 sex workers killed in late 2006 but the killer was caught, and gangs from London shot this young lad at a nightclub in town cops couldn’t find the gang members and this club is now closed down).
This is why when there is the slightest worry about any sort of crime the whole town is now filled up with extra patrols (it is to be fair safer to live in than London or even richer areas of SE England) but it is now really hard to get “party/rave” drugs here (then again there isn’t any venue where you can party/rave any more)

Ipswich Zest nightclub death: Jimoh Plunkett unlawfully killed – BBC News
I read entirely the document u share from wikipedia in german AND AM NOT REALLY CONVICTED THAT Mr. Steven WrightIS REALy guilty!?!
He never admitted that he was the ipswich RIPPER…LOL…
Did that event not brought to a Movie, cuz the story is scary and there are certainly questions still open. Also did Wright had a good lawyer for his defence.
And it is surprising that THE uk police has the right to keep 96 hours somebody before being brought to a first judge.
In swiss , after 24 hours , you must be inculped from a judge and u are sent to jail , if the judge decide to inculp you. to stay longer in detention.
I didn’t thought UK is as hard like FRANCE to let cops the right to question 4 days/nights long someone.
The term “Ipswich Ripper” was invented by the media and social networks – the German article leaves out some stuff (including the full names of the victims which in Britain are always published).
There was another suspect who was our age and also a raver but he actually tried to warn the victims mothers about Steve Wright!
it is the same here (for any offence other than terrorism).
The cops still have to apply to a judge to detain a suspect for more than 24 hours; but they have special judges on duty in London 7 days a week to deal with incidents like this.
I still remember how the Norwich Road looked back then; it was literally like some scene from a crime show on TV with cop cars and blue lights flashing on every street corner; they brought in reinforcements from all over England and they were there until around January/February 2007 and even afterwards detectives from London were regularly patrolling Ipswich (this was also because of info about other criminal activity discovered during the first investigation).
