Is it just me or has anyone else noticed all these weird square barcode-type things appearing everywhere, of the type that comes on Fedex deliveries etc. I’d upload a pic but PV isn’t letting me do it today (just says invalid url for everything I try, and can’t upload local files).
I’ve seen them on billboards, random fly-posters, peoples signatures on forums and all over the place. I guess they contain some sort of hidden info that reveals itself when you scan it. Am I missing something?

(lol jk – i have no idea what they are)
it most likely a master barcode, containing shipping details, who’s receving it ect. I get them on most of my skateboarding stuff i order. But i don’t use fedex i use ups innit there much more reliable
These are QR codes. They are supposed to allow you to go to websites and other stuff with a smartphone..
ahhh as always GL, you humble me with your wisdom! Lol
to be fair you and cheesweasel are right about why they are on the parcels – the couriers started using them in the 1990s as they could scan parcels faster.
It was only later on that the Japanese decided to add the capability to read them to smartphone software and they started being used for consumer purposes.
YES!!!! I was half right about something!!!!!!!! Fuckin win!!!! Sort of…..XD
They have their uses I reckon. I think it’s fairly easy to make them and link them to websites, so you could stick them in fairly covert interesting places to attract the right kind of peoples’ attention without actually blatantly advertising to the world.

Yeh there’s loads of them flyposted around Bristol as street art. I guess they must link to a blog or something.

the only QR your ever need 😉
It’s just marketing directed towards smartphone owners. You scan it with your camera and it takes you to a specific website.
Yes, they are EVERYWHERE now…
