I agree the pro-hunters would certainly grass up a party if they saw it taking place. OTOH trolling their boards may increase the amount of hostility to a level where they start trying to prevent them before they happen..
I have never supported fox-hunting though (IMO you should only go hunting if you are intending to eat what you have caught!).
As a form of pest control it became obsolete when firearms were invented – and is more a statement of control over the countryside, in the same way the “religious” fanatics whom Scott refers to use these extreme punishments to control the local population (they all used to be used in England a few hundred years ago!)
Its also very interesting just how many “pro-hunting/ tory middle england” types (mostly white people from affluent parts of England!) advocate the return of capital punishment to the UK and/or say “why don’t we chop off thieves hands?”
