  • Definately!! I know we would anyway.

I dont see the point in doing anything that gives the Police a chance to say anything against you.Vandalism/grafitti is just something else they can lay the blame on organisers for.
I would like to think that most folks who attend parties would realise this, and not do anything destructive to put the party/organisers/other partygoers in any danger.
Although,i have had to remind people at parties, usually right in the middle of them doing something stupid, that doing that might not look so good if the Feds show up.

i agree…party crews invest their money, their time and put their necks on the line for partygoers. why increase the risk ????

biggest irony is if most of the decent writers hooked up with the rig crews they’d be happy to get a backdrop or two done and would even contribute towards materials..

    yea too right.

It’s oftern young peoples nievety though. they goto a party and dont think if i tag/vandalise this the organisers may get done. they probly leave the party before the end and dont see the the police and organisers sometime have nice little chats at the end.

i’m a bit torn really – on the one hand, I believe in the total freedom @ parties – this is what makes them so attractive, and some grafitti is good. Also, some buildings will be totally demolished and rebuilt so what does it matter if doors/windows/walls are smashed. But if I owned a building I am sure I wd be angered by vandelism. Hmmm – I have seen good graffiti so I say OK to that. But I guess structural damage is really out of order.

I was at a party on Saturday in the ole BBC building in Leeds. It was a great party, and the police let us carry on till around 10am, but unfortunately there was a lot of damage done to the building, people spraying fire extingushers around, breaking indoor windows etc. I was talking to one of the cops after the event and he was quite pleasant, saying he knows that most of us just want a good time, but now the building is trashed and can’t be used without a lot of money being spent. Not only does it mean that the BBC can’t make use of it, but now we won’t be able to return to the site for another party.

Right. So because you have seen people spraying paint onto a wall costing hundreds of pounds worth of graffiti removal bills look good.

does that mean if i artisticly smash a window and make it look good thats ok as well?

yea graffiti is cool, but parties aint the time of the place. besides how oftrn do tou just see a small and simple tag at a rave and how oftrn do you see a big, well thought out graffiti piece. not very oftrn IMO unless its someones banner.

smashing stuff up is rubbish, but if the building is a local embarrasement, then a bit of destruction may help persuade the owner to sell it on, which is a positive thing. i dont beleive in respect for property if the owner has no respect either. if it is a wealthy landowners building, then if it burnt to the ground (so long as noone was hurt) noones lost out.
Wrong…….we’ve then just lost another location, which in today’s party climate is a big lose. If sites and buildings come away from a party relatively unscathed then, there’s more chance of it being used again and again until the site owner and OB begin to realise that we’re not a dirty bunch of cunts who deserve to get battened up and busted. Maybe then they might turn their attentions towards the war zones in our town centres come last orders !?!?

    That is fucked up…

don’t people think beyond the weekend?

I used to help kit out buildings for the BBC and other broadcasters, even gutted the building would have been a perfect creative space for multimedia (auntie once totally knew the score when it came to designing spaces for creativity)

that could have been held as a squat (even if just for a few weeks or months) and used for so many positive things as well as just parties…climb up to the roof, set up a WLAN connection to the net and instant “legal pirate internet radio/TV channel” – but I guess its locked down proper now and you lot up north lost your chance…

It was the perfect location for a party. Great main room, with loads of smaller ones round it and in seperate buildings in the grounds. If this had gone off without a hitch we could have organised a party twice the size on the grounds without a problem. As it is I doubt the cops will stand for it again and I can’t say I blame them.

The reaction I got from the people doing the damage was strange too. A couple of people stopped right away when I gave them the “look man, do this and we’ll never be using this place again” line, but I got told to fuck off by most.

I don’t understand the mentality behind it. If you want to commit mindless destruction then why not do it elsewhere? I’m not saying I agree with vandalism at any time, but why destroy something you enjoy to use? Its like having dinner then destroying the table.

Mindless vadalism is a waste of time, but if the old bill have just busted your party and lets say for example, taken their eye’s of one of their vehicles and you just happen to have a rock to hand. Whats the harm? My fucking tax pounds paid for the windscreen so why shouldnt i get my moneys worth? Besides i’ve always got a buzz out of supergluing locks and pouring marine cement down the toilets of certain high street vendors not to mention the joy one can acheive by shitting in an envelope and sending it to the wife of the fucker who clamped your car.

fucking hate vandalism theres just no need for it, people even vandalise othe peoples cars as i saw a few weeks back when someone ripped the windscreen wipers of someone elses car and started jumping on it. the owners where no to pleased :you_crazy

mmm i agree with no paint and no pens …

a mates crew, i help up north when im there, takes wooden boards (removable) enough for artists to spray on and anybody else can have a go, they also find out how good their party was from the comments left :groucho:

and of course it looks fooking amazing and can be removed from woods, barns or w.houses to keep em clean … good choice
