unfortunately since about 2005 or so the nearby residents have been lobbying to get the event closed down which is why the organisers have been forced into co-operating more and more with the cops
the media claims 400 crimes were dealt with (a “crime” being anything from a cannabis warning to actual arrest). The figures (73+244+8+75) below do actually add up to 400, but news reports of other festivals rarely count the cannabis warnings, only arrests…
There were 27 arrests for a variety of offences and another 46 people were arrested and received street bail – making the total number of arrests 73.
244 people were given formal warnings for cannabis possession, and eight people receive penalty notices for disorder for urinating in public.
A further eight people were reported to the courts for summons and the British Transport Police dealt with more than 75 people, the majority of which were for cannabis possession.
