Not being funny but the bloke in that picture doesn’t really look like the “fearful resident” they label him as…
Yeah he looks like the ring leader :laugh_at:
alltho you can’t judge a book by it’s cover … mby he’s the gandi of the weston world! :crazy_dru
maybe he’s the only person with the balls to talk to the Old Bill and the press as he could handle any reprisals? Consider how many big grown men who can normally look after themselves still get beaten to shit or even killed by Londonistan youths for daring to challenge them..

TBH its not really worth supporting that kind of squat. Even those kids what attend and don’t get mugged become both paranoid and desensetised to the violence, people end up going around in crews not safe to wander off on their own and it reinforces the gang culture.
This is true, I was at one of the psy parties a couple years ago where the security got done over and the gang smashed their way in and really ruined the night for many people.
Really put the paranoia in me ever since; and makes it hard to relax when partying. But it does seem to be the minority of parties it happened too (psy parties anyway) and we can’t let these cunts determine when we can and can’t party.

This is why I only partied in London once at a free party. Great music but how the hell can u get off your tits and relax if you risk getting mugged every time you go for a piss.

I’m fairly sure that particular event was due to long-running disagreements between the gang and the crew and/or security involved over money. This sort of thing (which can and does happen even at licensend night time venues) is particularly rare for psy trance parties, and more importantly sticks out like a sore thumb because these events are by and large peaceful and do not result in other issues such as vandalism or serious injury, nor does the music encourage violence or competitiveness.

To be honest, after several years of partying in London regularly, I have only witnessed one lot of violence; and I think that was aimed at one specific crew. There have been some sketchy characters mulling around in the crowds, but I find generally if you’re not rolling around on the floor making a target of yourself, flashing your cash everywhere or roaming around looking like a lost cause you will be fine. Obviously it’s not always the case though.
I do try to keep closer to people I know, stay in bit of a group and rarely wander off on my own. I don’t get as messy at London parties either, much prefer to have my wits about me a little more, which is rather fine by me, I don’t need drugs to enjoy a party. It’s bit of a shame, but like I said, I’m not going to let a small minority ruin my London party time.

Yeah that was crew/gang disputes, however I believe that the trouble continued and affected associated crews after they realised that psy parties were easy targets. It is rare, because of the morals and ethics of “the scene”. But I think when it happened once, and people saw psy parties were an easy touch, it definitely increased.
It seems most of the crews get mega hardcore security though now. So most of the wankers are deterred by that.

There were a few more incidents of infiltration than that particularly nasty one, mostly when parties were held in known gang territory. At one the gang (having been ejected) smashed up the warehouse windows, then the cops get tipped off (possibly by the gang themselves) saying they would return with firearms, causing metpol CO19 to turn up and lock off the party for everyones safety.
TBH I think most of the gang types have returned to the urban music scene (grime/dubstep/drum and bass) as gang activity and hard man culture is a more tolerated and accepted part of this scene.
at least in this country guns and irritant gas canisters are hard to get and have strong penalties – so its not worth gangs using them to fuck up a squat party (they would see more gain in fucking up an expensive commercial grime event of a rival promoter as it can cost them much more cash).

They have definitely gone somewhere, I haven’t seen any hassle at London psy parties for a while, granted I have been a little slack this year, but my house mate is a regular London visitor and assures me that it’s pretty much safe again *touch wood*.
Must have been a nice little earner after fleecing the door, bar, nos and punters though. I can see how to a gangster chancer it’s an appealing night out. Walk into a squat full of hippies who wont fight back, crack a few heads and make off with a few grand in your pocket.
The thing is, (I am basing this on assumptions; so correct me if I’m wrong) in the “urban scenes”, there does seem to be more of the hard man attitude like you say, which means the people concerned could face a lot more hostility if they tried to pull the same stuff as they did at a psy parties.
Wouldn’t be as fun if you were likely to get a good kicking as a result.

People talk a good fight but not everyone is that good at fighting back, even big hard bastards who can “look after themselves” and many fighters like a challenge – after all it wouldn’t be much fun for a boxer who knocked out his opponent with one punch at every match, he’d get bored soon enough!
Not all gang / violent crime aimed at a music event is committed simply for financial gain. After all, they could just rob a college kid in the street if that was the case. Plenty of soft targets to be found there. In many cases the objective is more to destroy the actual event itself, including stuff like rushing the decks/speakers and dashing the equipment down on to the ground…
Even if they take a few knocks but the result is the event gets locked off and promoters barred its a win to the rival gang – hence why stuff happens like CS being let off in a crowded venue – when that happened in Luton it was treated same as a terrorist incident due to the amount of folk what had to go to hospital…
