Suntanned women to be arrested under Islamic dress code – Telegraph
My word how stupid is this!!!
disgusting
and the punchline is i know tons of totalitarian christians who would tut at this without realising how hypocritical they are
I reckon strict Islam is worse than Christianity. Although both were the same in medieval times.
Now it’s Islam that just needs to catch up.
Better yet, ban it all. Would make the world a happier place!

Except Amy :laugh_at:
indeed islam is a bit behind christianity development wise, maybe a bit more extreme but even my nan had to cover up her hair if she went to church in her day
im all in favour of banning religious bigotry but if we banned religion full stop we’d be just as bad as them.. freedom of choice and all that
The announcement came shortly after Ayatollah Kazim Sadighi, a leading cleric, warned that women who dressed immodestly disturbed young men and the consequent agitation caused earthquakes.
i knew women were to blame somehow! 😉
ban nothing, but do not let religion rule the public space, god, allah, buda and every prophet have the same to say how we live our lives as santa claus…….its a personal thing and should stay personal not public….

indeed, total separation of state and church
IQ is increasing with every generation, if we can sort out the mass poverty too who knows what progress could be made with religion. Then again, the human condition will always exist. meh stupid horrible world full of stupid horrible people, so sad what people do to each other in the name of god.
The situation in Iran is far bleaker than it looks on the surface. I have only recently worked out what happened in Iran myself as I was about 7 years old when it all kicked off. All I remember then was seeing a lot of war and bombs and angry dudes what dressed strangely being in charge of this country.
the reality was that Iran had a very moderate government until the late 1970s. It was more moderate than Malaysia or Indonesia today, western dress, pop music and not much less free speech than the West was tolerated.
In the 1970s there was an oil crisis because the Middle Eastern countries with oil (Iran is one of these) put up their prices. The Americans and Europeans and Israel then used a variety of political, economic and in some cases military actions to cause enough economic and political turmoil in these nations to make them reduce their oil prices (this was what paid for the boom times of the 1980s).
various factions then formed in Iran with views that the current Government was a soft touch what was giving away too many oil resources cheaply to the West. so they formed conservative, nationalistic movements which eventually overthrew the Government.
Think of the 2000 fuel protests in reverse ,and the mob of protestors backed by getting their way… thats basically what happened in Iran 30 years ago. Unfortunately as much as we Westerners might think its a crap way to live, at present it seems good enough for enough angry men to defend it to the last…
Mmm interesting insight, angry enough to defend it, but do they know what they are angry about? Me thinks not! As most follows of the ‘word’ they know what they have been told by the Gov’, The most enlightened K marx once said that religion was the opiate of the masses! Well at least there seem to be a few of us about following opiates of a different origin:bounce_fl

actually he said “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people”
😉
Why ya wanna be so specific? Ya know what I was saying! And i know what he was saying! Paraphrasing hun x
Banning the burka is as bad as forcing people to wear it. This isn’t the way to bring people together…
