shame
If you read the whole thread there are others who’ve listened and understand your point of view –
this is a ‘dicsussion’ board and we need opinions from everyone to make that work – so I think it’ll be a shame you go
working as a teacher is a small part of your identity as its what you did for a job – it’s not how you are identified as an indidivual / person
Please don’t leave. I for one respect teachers as they have helped me a lot, and think you do a fucking good job.
The irony of people generalising teachers is that they (I know for a fact) hate being stereotyped themselves. Pure hypocrisy.
good on ’em for striking …
ive got a close friend who’s a teacher and the amount she has to put up with, the amount of hours she works yet how much dedication she has i think its crazy …
agreed. he is an absolute diamond and speaks the truth. it’s weird saying that when i’ve never met the guy, but a head screwed on is a head screwed on.
i’ve just scanned through the thread and didn’t really see many posts against teachers. in fact lots of people have said it’s the system teachers have to work in that holds education back.
i was playing a bit of a devil’s advocate saying teachers are disconnected from reality, bearing in mind i did say that i am friends with quite a few teachers… my father was a teacher and my wife is training to become a teacher. one of my best friends won a national award for teaching science last year.
and i said i supported the strike (as did others) for the reasons i already said
Mr AHC can come across a little toxic so take him with a pinch of salt (no offence AHC) 😉 but if he wouldn’t send his kids to a school, that’s his opinion and he’s entitled to it.
I have friends who home tutor their children because schools were unable to give them a positive experience. school isn’t for everyone… the PGCE qualification in England isn’t sufficient to identify and deal with common impairments like dyslexia and autism which can lead to children reacting badly. it’s not the fault of the teacher; the education system doesn’t invest properly in putting proper support in classrooms
personally i had a crap experience at school and college was even worse. that was thanks partly to having a lot of crap teachers, but the good ones made a lasting impact on me. but the crap ones… it took me 10 years to get the confidence to even try any kind of course again.
It would be a shame to lose you from Partyvibe. I genuinely think that no-one was having a go at you personally. There will always be people whose opinions upset or anger you. the way to go listen to what they are saying and then decide if what they are saying has value. if you choose to avoid anywhere (in real life or online) because people have different views to your own, then you will… err… become disconnected from reality?
peace and learning

i still hate teachers, they work for the enemy to tell kids how to think.
