Good footage, unfortunately I am unable to hear it very well (my boss sits about three and a half foot from me!), so if I have missed an interpretation due to the volume, sorry….
Indeed, this was the first UK TeK after the CJA came in. There were massive “security” issues as we were next door the the still operating US base. It was VE Day (UK bank holiday moved to coincide with 40th anniversary of VE day) so it was hijacked to become raVE day.
It did go off perfectly fine for the Saturday night/Sunday and on into Monday, even with the usual OB presence around the site (latecomers running over fields etc).
My favourite memory of that site was the repeated driving of somebody’s bus round the site, getting more and more trashed as it went – furniture was flying out of it/clothes/possessions, then finally the windows were all popped out. Never actually saw where it ended up…(realise now that that was someones home:cry: – and I guess they must have done something out of order for that retribution to take place)
However, Ooops! were well clear of the site by the time the bust came. (:laugh_at: sly buggers like that we were!!) Nice to see actual interraction with the OB – “you carry this box and I’ll carry that one” (see note about volume at work – might have missed something here).
That was not the only party to get busted that weekend. As the Advance Party soon discovered – a party in North Wales went off peaceably from Friday to Monday, and (like Suffolk) was actually continued because of effective OB liaison by the peeps on site. However, BOTH parties were busted at exactly 12.50 pm on the Bank Holiday Monday – ten minutes before the rest of the country began its “official” VE Day celebrations. Now that made us compare a lot of notes between the two parties, and clearly shows that someone way up the chain made the call to bust…(wonder if this kind of high level co-ordination of busts 300miles apart still goes on???)
GL was there – and now he lives up that way….

wicked…. i have different footage on video of the same tek, keep meaning to digitalise it and upload it…. maybe i will now……………………
a few points …….. the bus you are on about was owned by a certain cretin who deserved it, it is now buried on that site… having had the engine and all worthwhile bits removed!!
the raf base is still in use…. as is the site at present, last party there was only about 14 months ago
it was a fookin good party, and reportedly the first ever riot in suffolk!
